Job Description: 

We are looking for a passionate SEO Director who will use their curiosity and technical website construction knowledge to create on-page & on-site recommendations which help grow SEO visits for our clients. You will provide your team leadership and share their passion for the discipline of organic search and driving growth for our client’s businesses. You should have hands-on experience in organic strategies, processes, analytics, cross-discipline collaboration, a clear history of exceeding client goals and campaign KPIs. This individual will lead a team of SEO specialists in daily execution as well as contributing to new product offerings. In this role, you will be responsible for building an efficient, high-performing SEO team, who will serve as a hub of knowledge and play an integral role in pushing the company’s offerings forward. You will be the voice and advocate in the company for content SEO excellence.


We’re looking for an energetic leader brimming with ideas who can define our strategy and turn it into action. We want someone who can challenge our approach, identify opportunities for improvement and navigate the intersection of technical and content-driven SEO.


Responsibilities: 

  • Partner with business leaders to drive the right traffic which increases revenue, communicating successes and problems proactively
  • Develop and implement SEO best practices, guiding product and technology teams to be proactive in site development for sites with millions of pages each
  • Lead analysis which identifies new opportunities on a website’s technical construction which will enable Google to crawl it better
  • Keep up with new developments and improvements for Page Experience that will benefit SEO growth
  • Drive innovation and implement testing strategies to continually uncover opportunities for optimization, enhance learning, and improve performance
  • Stay up to date with latest Google algorithm components and establish priorities for including updates in sprints
  • Review key competitors web site construction and identify new opportunities to improve our own
  • Review information architecture on our site and client’s site and recommend improvements
  • Leverage tools like Page Speed Insights, Lighthouse, Schema Validator to ensure our sites are world class, benchmarked against competitors.
  • Design A/B tests aimed at increasing SEO traffic
  • Use data and analytics to make data driven decisions
  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
  • Create systems to determine key alignments between organic and paid channels to improve efficiency.
  • Assume a cross functional role, working with social media, paid media, and creative web dev teams to conceive of and execute initiatives


Team Management and Leadership: 

  • Innovate and create new SEO content and link acquisition tactics, assets, leverage automation, data and machine learning to build scalable SEO content programs, improve operational efficiency and ROI.
  • Educate colleagues on SEO best practices throughout projects
  • Build a high-performing team
  • You'll direct and coach talented team members, demonstrating how to think more strategically about Organic Search’s role.
  • You will constructively and frequently evaluate team performance, providing support and recognition and effectively foster teamwork that drives motivation and retention.

Requirements: 

  • Education in computer science, engineering, mathematics, marketing, or communications
  • You will analyze performance data and garner key insights to develop the strategic vision for SEO and cross-channel opportunities, and provide analysis, QA and insights for performance reports.
  • HTML knowledge with a focus on key SEO elements such as Canonicals, Schema implementation, Meta Robots instructions, etc.
  • Proficient with the following tools or similar:
    • Google Analytics
    • Google Search Console
  • Site Crawlers such as Screaming Frog or Botify
  • Project Management skills
  • Page Speed Testing Tools
  • Keyword Research Tools such as SEMRush, AHREFs, etc.
  • Keyword Rank Tracking Tools such as SEOClarity or STAT
  • Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Docs/Sheets
  • Pluses: working knowledge of javascript and/or CSS
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • 5+ years of experience in SEO driving growth
  • 3+ years of experience managing team members
  • A strong analytical and quantitative mind, with demonstrated results in SEO.
  • A great communicator, boiling complex concepts down into clear, actionable instructions.
  • A true collaborator, working with multiple stakeholders across teams to educate, influence, and execute.
  • Willingness to dive in and research a problem from multiple points of view, provide supported conclusions, and lay out a clear go-forward game plan.
  • Experience working with product managers and developers to implement SEO changes on websites
