Our Mission

Our mission’s simple: every child deserves a safe, loving home, and we’re making that real. The Center for the Rights of Abused Children brings Americans together to do more and change more for abused children — because every child deserves a safe and loving home. Our work has already protected more than one million children, and we won’t stop until every child is safe and loved.

Position Overview

We are seeking a high-capacity, polished, and proactive professional to join our Phoenix team as a Special Projects Assistant. This role is a "masterclass" in nonprofit growth, designed for an early-career individual who wants to work at the center of a fast-scaling national organization. You will work side-by-side with our leadership, providing agile support to ensure our donor research is thorough, our materials are world-class, and our organizational projects are executed with meticulous attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Research & Intelligence: Conduct background research on prospective donors and partners to prepare detailed briefing materials for leadership meetings and outreach.
  • Communications & Presentation Support: Assist in maintaining our high standards for external materials, ensuring all documents—from presentation decks to impact reports—are polished, professional, and accurately reflect our mission and voice.
  • Database & Development Support: Assist with our donor database (Bloomerang) by ensuring records are updated accurately and donor acknowledgments are handled with speed, excellence, and a personal touch.
  • On-Site Project Execution: Provide versatile support for special initiatives, helping organize digital assets, coordinate meeting logistics, and ensure the office environment reflects the Center’s commitment to excellence.

The Ideal Profile

  • Professional Excellence: You possess exceptional communication skills and thrive in an in-office environment where face-to-face mentorship and collaboration are prioritized.
  • Resourcefulness: You are a curious, tech-savvy problem solver who takes pride in "leveling up" every project you touch. You don't just complete a task; you ensure it meets a high standard of excellence.
  • Coachability: You are an eager learner who is ready to be mentored in the "science" of donor relations and the "art" of mission-driven storytelling.
  • Mission Heart: A deep, principled commitment to the protection of abused children.

Benefits

  • Direct, daily mentorship from nationally recognized nonprofit leaders.
  • Competitive salary and a clear path for professional growth within a $20M vision.
  • Join a team with the Norman Borlaug Humanitarian Award and the GuideStar Platinum Seal of Transparency.
