Scheduler

Position Purpose: 

Responsible for scheduling all outpatient surgeries and procedures as requested by the physician or the physician’s office.


Position Reports to: Clinical Leader

Position Supervises: None

Degree of Supervision Provided to Position:

Must be self -directed and work under the direction of the Clinical Leader

Education, Experience, and Licensure:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum one (1) year scheduling experience in an ambulatory surgery facility, acute care hospital, or physician’s office.
  • Punctuality
  • Good attendance record
  • Ability to meet deadlines

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for scheduling all outpatient surgeries and procedures as requested by the physician or the physician’s office staff.
  • Responsible for capturing complete and accurate clinical, demographic and insurance information on patients scheduled at the surgery center.
  • Responsible for communicating same day and next day add-on case requests to leadership.
  • Responsible for communicating any potential scheduling conflicts with perioperative team.
  • Promptly communicates any patient problems to direct supervisor.
  • Maintains positive communications with the medical staff members and their office personnel.
  • Responsible for tracking cancellations.
  • Responsible for monitoring and releasing block time.
  • Ability to take ownership and leads by example.
  • Ability to contribute in a cross-functional collaborative environment.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently.
  • Self-motivated with the attitude and ability to be successful as part of a team.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, trainings, and daily safety huddles
  • Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships
  • Act as a patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information.
  • Comply with facility policies. 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
