SUMMARY DESCRIPTION 

The Business Office Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative and business functions of the surgery center to ensure smooth and efficient operations. This role provides direct supervision to non-clinical staff, supports all business office functions, and serves as a liaison between the Administrator and external partners such as the billing company, facility maintenance, and housekeeping. The coordinator assists with staff scheduling, timekeeping, supply management, and reporting, while also supporting compliance with payer contracts and internal policies. This is a hands-on role that works closely with the Director of Nursing and Administrator to promote operational excellence and support center utilization.  

  

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Coordinate the Business Office team and functions to ensure our operations run smoothly and efficiently 

  • Responsible for direct supervision of non-medical personnel, including orientation, ongoing coaching and annual evaluations 

  • As a working position will backup to all business office teammates 

  • Ensures that administrative and accounting procedures are carried out timely and accurately and help create reports 

  • Responsible for office supplies and equipment and is main contact for building maintenance items 

  • Helps the Administrator manage relationship with billing company, building maintenance and housekeeping companies 

  • Assists with schedules and timekeeping functions for staff. 

  • Works closely with Director of Nursing so that the flow of the overall operation is most efficient, reporting all activities to the Administrator. 

  • Works closely with the Administrator to promote the utilization of the Surgery Center. 

  • Assists with interpretation and implementation of the terms of contracts with all third-party payers. 

  • Demonstrates competency in performing job task and in operating equipment on an annual basis 

  • Performs other miscellaneous administrative duties as needed 

  

  

  

  

Qualifications 

 

  • High School Diploma/GED with equivalent work experience with associate or bachelor’s degree preferre 

  • 2 years of experience in a medically- related environment highly preferred - surgery center experience a plus 

  • Supervisor of non-medical teammates preferred 

  • Medical terminology knowledge 

  • Experience with patient admissions, scheduling, medical office operations desired 

  • An understanding of how insurance processes work including the verification process 

  • Computer experience, Excel, Word, Medical Billing Software and Applications. 

  • Experience with SharePoint and Survey monkey preferred but not required 

  • Good communication skills and phone etiquette
