About the Job
We are currently seeking a hands-on Production Support Software Engineer to join Nexant’s Production Support team at our office in San Francisco, CA. The Production Support Software Engineer is responsible for building, managing and supporting production infrastructure. The ideal candidate for this role will have a deep understanding of cloud and colocation datacenter technologies, strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, excellent development and automation skills, and great communication skills.


Duties and Responsibilities
Work as part of a global team of IT Operations, Production Support and DevOps in a highly agile (often changing and conflicting priorities) environment, with focus on efficient daily operation while progressing on strategic initiatives
Deploy software releases into staging and production environments and perform production tests
Work with DevOps teams to develop processes for CI/CD pipeline and automation infrastructure
Implement best practices for monitoring, troubleshooting, incident and SLA tracking
Assist in firefighting production issues and participate in on-call rotations
Provide post-mortem data and root cause analysis for production incidents
Work closely with Development teams to influence code or architecture changes based on discovers from production
Create/maintain technical and functional documentation
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
B.S. or M.S in Computer Science or equivalent experience
3+ years of experience in full life cycle development of J2EE applications
3+ years of Linux/Unix/Windows System Administration experience (including DNS, SMTP, TCP/IP, LDAP, firewalls, load balancing, routing/switching, monitoring and web applications)
Hands on programming (Perl/Python/Ruby/Shell/Java) and automation skills
Strong knowledge and experience with cloud/virtualization technologies (including VMware, AWS, and OpenStack)
Strong knowledge and experience with containerization technologies (including Docker, Kubernetes, Packer, Swarm)
Experience with packaging, configuration management and CI/CD tools
Proficient with Git, SVN, and Jenkins
Experience with Agile methodologies and tooling (including Jira, Kanban, Scrum)Practical experience with MySQL, Jetty, Tomcat, Apache, Analytics and Reporting solutions is a plus
