About the Job

We are seeking a Consultant who will be instrumental in executing Nexant’s single client engagements, while providing support to our subscription offerings. As a more experienced individual on our staff, the Consultant both guides more junior staff, and performs their own work in terms of collecting information, analyzing for trends and key findings, and preparing text or PowerPoint sections for incorporation into Reports. Recognizing their project management responsibilities, a Consultant should have excellent organizational skills and be good at communicating and guiding others. A Consultant typically manages and/or works on a few projects at one time, thereby necessitating excellent ability to multi-task, work with minimum supervision, exercise good judgment and communicate with a wide variety of colleagues. Additionally, a Consultant supports the group’s overall sales effort through proposal and prospectus preparation, negotiation, business development, and other client interfacing activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participation as a core member of engagement teams, with a focus on study execution
  • Support Nexant’s marketing efforts for consulting services to North American and Latin clients
  • Develop and/or maintain familiarity with selected segments of the industry, including renewables, refining, gas processing, links to petrochemicals
  • Interact with and support other Nexant consulting offices and project teams
  • Liaise with clients to manage project deliverables
  • Help maintain and extend Nexant’s recognized brand leadership in industry-focused consultancy covering commercial, techno-economic and strategic analysis. Typically, this is achieved through preparation of conference papers, and press articles as well as personal relationships
  • Other duties may be required.

Qualifications

  • Primary degree in a subject relevant to the Energy and Chemical Industries, generally Chemical Engineering, but also chemistry/biochemistry
  • Relevant higher degree is a plus (Masters, PhD, MBA)
  • 5-10 years of industry experience with a specific technical and/or commercial focus in the hydrocarbon processing, chemicals or renewables industries
  • Working experience with an industry company, with time at a top industry or management consultancy a major plus
  • Must have good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of process simulation (e.g. using Aspen Plus) a plus
  • International experience is a plus
  • Excellent verbal communication skills for interacting with clients
  • Positive and flexible attitude
  • Diplomatic in meeting and working with people, good cultural awareness
  • Flexible and willing to work extra hours as necessary to accommodate busy work loads
  • Must be able to travel locally, nationally or internationally up to approximately 20% of the time
  • Fluency in Spanish a plus.
