Main purpose of job:

The Analyst will work across Nexant’s Energy and Chemicals Advisory business, including single client projects and the subscription and report programs. Technology, economics and market analysis covers a broad range of energy and chemical-related industries, from hydrocarbon fuels and feedstocks, petrochemicals and polymers, C1 chemicals, to biorenewables and special topics.

The Analyst role will initially focus on preparation of market, technology or pricing reports within the Subscriptions business.Senior Analyst level is a key entry point into Nexant, and comprise a pool of expertise that creates the detailed analysis that is core to Nexant’s consulting and subscription offerings.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • To work in project teams to research, analyze and write reports on the energy and chemical-related industries providing content for single client reports and subscription programs.
  • To undertake desk research into the technology, market, financial, environmental and commercial aspect of the energy and chemical industries.
  • To conduct primary market research with key industry participants to understand and identify key market and technical dynamics.
  • To analyse the industry using excel and Nexant databases generating meaningful analysis.
  • To prepare written reports providing insight and description regarding key trends.
  • To contribute to webinars and client presentations
  • To meet internal quality goals and work within deadlines and budgets.
  • To exceed clients’ expectations with quality research, analysis and report writing and verbal presentation of key findings.
  • Develop and broaden personal industry knowledge and capabilities regarding market analysis, including supporting others in efforts to sell new services and reports


Education and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant discipline
  • Excellent standard of academic qualifications
  • Good first degree in a subject relevant to the energy industry for example engineering, chemistry & economics )
  • Higher degree in relevant subject (masters, PhD)
  • Second language


Skills & Experience

  • Previous industry analysis/consulting, research or process industry experience
  • Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft spread sheets, word processing and
  • presentation applications
  • Ability to analyse and problem solve
  • Proficient in the use of databases
  • Excellent presentation and report writing skills
