About the Job
We are currently seeking a full time technician to support the energy consulting services we provide our clients. The successful candidate will be an energy efficiency expert that has the right mix of technical ability, program expertise, and interpersonal skills to identify, educate and inspire energy-saving actions with our utility customers. Specific responsibilities will include: becoming well-versed in Xcel Energy’s and Platte River Power Authority’s DSM programs, conducting facility site assessments to identify potential energy and water saving projects, meeting with Trade Ally’s to walk through a facility and coordinate collecting bids, and program marketing.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform technical review and process rebate applications for energy efficiency projects. Examples of projects include; lighting retrofits, motor replacements, addition of variable frequency drives and HVAC equipment upgrades.
• Build simple spreadsheets to perform energy efficiency calculations related to lighting, electric motors, and HVAC equipment.
• Assist engineers with drafting reports to summarize results and issue recommendations.
• Perform onsite measurement and verifications for energy saving projects.
• Document field work activities and results in spreadsheets and reports.
• Generate reports, letters and emails to customers using Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel.
• Communicate effectively with Trade Ally’s and clients.
• Provide immediate program and technical feedback; leverage internal resources as necessary
• Potentially support Nexant’s other utility programs under the direction of the engineering managers
• Other duties as directed.

Qualifications
• Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in a science field, a certification in a technical field or 5 years of experience in the energy consulting field
• A passion to work in the energy efficiency and sustainability industry
• Excellent organizational, writing, interpersonal, and analytical skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel)
• Proven time management ability. Able to meet deadlines and anticipate difficulty in meeting deadlines
• Proven ability to learn and apply new technical subjects, processes, and safety procedures
• Ability to quickly learn technical subjects related to energy efficiency in lighting, HVAC and industrial process
• Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
• 1 to 5 years of experience within the energy efficiency or building efficiency industry is a plus
• Understanding of building systems (particularly lighting, HVAC, and water) and/or sustainability practices is a plus
• Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and control systems is a plus
• Must be willing to travel locally 30% of the time with potential travel domestically approximately 10% of the time.
