Up to 40% travel is required to meet with clients, BD team members, and Nexant delivery personnel on a regular basis.

Successful candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position. 3+ years of experience developing business with utility clients in Demand-side management, business-process outsourcing, IT modernization, or grid/meter equipment is required.

The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating opportunity development with existing and strategic utility accounts, developing and managing delivery partner relationships, developing new, innovative service offerings, and overseeing the existing proposal and research team. Coordination with corporate and software teams will be a critical role to facilitate development and marketing of technology-enabled services.

Nexant is currently seeking a professional, highly-motivated Director of Business Development for Utility Services to support national efforts to grow services revenue with electric and gas utility clients in North America. This position will oversee a team of business development professionals located across the nation, and may work from a remote location with appropriate travel to Nexant offices on a regular basis.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement a multi-year strategic growth plan in concert with Business Unit and corporate leaders, inclusive of a Business Development operations team, identification and management of strategic partners, and alignment with Nexant growth initiatives for technology-enabled services.
2. Manage Business Development efforts for Utility Services, including but not limited to:
3. Facilitate account planning for strategic utility accounts and coordinate subject matter experts and account executives to showcase Nexant services and solutions.
4. Identify and develop pre-RFP service opportunities at strategic utility accounts
5. Screen and prioritize opportunities for pursuit that align with Business Unit and corporate growth initiatives and service offerings.
6. Oversee a team to develop and submit proposals for strategic opportunitie
7. Track and monitor cost, effectiveness, and success of business development efforts.
8. Coordinate effectively with a cross-functional team of software, grid management, evaluation, and consulting groups to provide integrated solutions to utility customers.
9. Research and develop new service offerings, program designs, and/or technology-enabled services and manage marketing and deployment with utility clients on a pilot basis.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum of 3 years of work experience of business development work with North American utilities
• Strong customer relationship and sales skills.
• Strong understanding of utility procurement practices, standard operating principles, regulatory environment, and organization/leadership structures.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while balancing schedules and budgets.
• Excellent writing, interpersonal, presentation, and analytical skills.
• Experience in the following areas is a plus:
o Proposal development and process management
o Utility sales
o Salesforce CRM & proposal tracking
o Contract pricing and negotiation
