Nexant is currently seeking a professional, highly-motivated Regional Director of Business Development to support efforts to grow services revenue with electric and gas utility clients in North America, specifically across the Eastern United States.

The successful candidate will be responsible to manage and coordinate business development activities at strategic utility accounts, and facilitate presentation and implementation of new solutions at target utility accounts in the Eastern United States. The role will require collaboration with a cross-functional team of consulting, energy efficiency, marketing and software professionals. Sales territory and growth opportunities for this role will evolve with business needs.

Successful candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position. 7+ years of experience developing business with utility clients in Demand-side management, business-process outsourcing, IT modernization, or grid/meter equipment is required.

Up to 50% travel is required to meet with clients, BD team members, and Nexant delivery personnel on a regular basis.

Candidates from other locations may apply, but should indicate their preference for telecommuting or alternate location.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage relationships at strategic utility accounts. Serve as the primary point of contact and a trusted advisor and consultant for key account contacts. Provide market insights, recommendations, and services to assist clients to solve problems.
  • Facilitate account planning for strategic utility accounts and coordinate with subject matter experts to showcase Nexant services and solutions. Pursue opportunities to achieve revenue growth targets at key accounts.
  • Identify and develop pre-RFP service opportunities at strategic utility accounts, including pilot initiatives where appropriate.
  • Screen and prioritize opportunities for pursuit at strategic accounts that align with Business Unit and corporate growth initiatives and service offerings.
  • Utilize proposal and subject matter expert team to submit proposals for strategic opportunities.
  • Collaborate effectively with a cross-functional team of energy efficiency, software, grid management, evaluation, and consulting groups to develop, showcase and deliver integrated solutions to new utility customers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of work experience of business development work with North American utilities
  • Strong customer relationship and sales skills.
  • Strong understanding of utility procurement practices, standard operating principles, regulatory environment, and organization/leadership structures.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while balancing schedules and budgets.
  • Excellent writing, interpersonal, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Experience in the following areas is a plus:
    • Proposal development and process management
    • Utility sales
    • Salesforce CRM
    • Contract pricing and negotiation
