About the Job
The role of the production artist is to take existing creative concepts and bring them into the final stages of production. Strong typographic and layout skills, strict attention to detail, and outstanding organizational, project management, file-organization, and archiving skills are a must. The production artist helps our team to complete creative solutions and have an immediate impact on the customers and clients Nexant serves. This role must be able to take direction and work as an individual contributor for technical and creative know-how and effectively in a team environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with marketing and communications experts, designer, and copywriter
  • Prepare final press-ready files based on supplied specifications for several types of printing
  • Make various formats of supplied artwork production-ready and resolve any artwork issues that arise during production
  • Provide image retouching, clipping paths, and additional image manipulation
  • Package and preflight files for release to printers or media partners
  • Create PDFs for print and client review
  • Prepare images for online and mobile applications
  • Catalog and reference art for future projects
  • Follow a development timeline to ensure tasks are being completed on time
  • Troubleshoot problems as they arise with both the creative team and the printer
  • Ability to process information and arrive at a decision that can be related to your work (strategic thinking).
  • Fill in for marketing coordinators duties as needed (e.g., supports account executive activities including: management of day-to-day administrative tasks; creates/tracks deadlines, progress, and reports; plans meetings; prepares agendas; prepares and reviews quotes/specs
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Business, Communications, Journalism or related field
  • Equivalent professional experience required
  • Entry level to three years of professional production design experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency of printing processes and should be adept with software applications such as Flight Check, the Adobe Creative Suite (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Thorough knowledge of printing processes and file preparation
  • Must be comfortable working on Windows platform.
  • Able to balance competing priorities and projects and work under tight deadlines
  • Disciplined time management skills and superior attention to detail
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet concrete deadlines
  • Strong analytical skills, verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Dreamweaver and web design a plus
  • Experience with digital content such as websites, social media, online advertising and email campaigns is a plus
  • Energy efficiency industry experience a plus
