About the Job
Nexant’s Software-Grid Management group is an engineering and consulting team with a reputation for building cutting edge software solutions for our clients. Due to a major expansion agenda, we have a need for a hands-on and talented Software Development Engineer with a strong focus in Java development to join our team as regular, full-time employee. The ideal candidate will be a broad and innovative thinker with the vision to shape the product for the future.

Duties and Responsibilities
Participate in the full lifecycle Java development of enterprise software systems, including design, implementation, testing, and support
Implementation of business logic, user interfaces, and databases for our web-based systems
Client support
Writing of user documentation
Design documentation, user documentation
Proactively look at new and innovative solutions that improve the user experience while increasing performance and scalability
Effectively balance the need for customization versus maintaining core functionality for all customers
Assess the software development and maintenance tasks
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
BS or MS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or similar
5 years of work experience in full life-cycle Java development
Knowledge or experience in engineering problem solving
Analytical and be able to troubleshoot applications
Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead a team of software developers
Strong ability to interact with customers, understand their requirements, discuss alternate implementation approaches, understand business logic and design accordingly
Excellent proficiency of Server and Web Client technologies, and how they work together.
Strong database and RDBMS, ORACLE knowledge.
Electrical Energy Markets knowledge is desirable
Work effectively under stressful conditions
Work as part of a team which includes in-house software engineers and QA engineers on the day-to-day execution of quality assurance efforts to meet committed delivery dates
Exposure to formal development methodology tools and implementation/deployment of large systems.

Data Structures, algorithm design. Performance tuning. UML, Object Oriented Design, SOA
XML, JAXB, XSLT, XSD
Web application/service: Spring MVC, Struts, Java Servlets, JSP, Javascript, EXT-JS, JQuery, CXF, AJAX, JSON, React
Persistence : JPA, EclipseLink , Hibernate, JDBC, Ibatis, J2EE
Database: Oracle 10g, 11g. MySQL
Development/test tools: Eclipse, SQL Developer, Maven, Ant, CruiseControl, DBMaintain, DBUnit, Shell Script/Bash, CVS, SVN
Development platform: Linux, Windows
Web/Application Server: Jboss EAP 6, Tomcat
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is required.
