Job Description:
Climate United Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (“Climate United”), is seeking a full-time Senior Officer, Subawards to manage subaward(s) and ensure subaward compliance with regulatory requirements and programmatic standards in the deployment of funds from the National Clean Investment Fund. Reporting to the Director of Subawards, the Senior Officer, Subawards will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight and management of subaward(s), including administration and monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:

Oversight and management of subaward(s) for the entire subaward lifecycle from start up through implementation and closeout.

Review of subrecipient reports, including spot checking of supporting documentation for financial reports.

Periodic reviews and audits of subrecipient supporting documentation to ensure compliance with program requirements and assess the effectiveness of existing controls.

Identify areas for subaward compliance process improvement.

Develop and implement and subaward monitoring plan using a risk-based approach.

Determine capacity needs of subrecipient and make recommendations for training and/or capacity building.

Maintain required subawards files, including copies of subaward supporting documentation to ensure audit readiness.

Serve as a resource for and maintain up to date awareness of donor regulations, award terms, industry best practices, and organizational compliance policies and procedures.

Proactively adapt subaward management strategies as needed, particularly in response to updated requirements and/or monitoring results.

Conduct training for subrecipient on subaward requirements including donor regulations, subaward terms, and best practices.

Serve as primary contact person for subrecipients to ensure compliance and provide technical assistance as needed.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including investments, finance, and legal to integrate compliance measures into subaward management processes.

Be part of a team of compliance professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

Champion a culture of compliance and ethics across the organization, promoting awareness and understanding of compliance obligations among staff members.
Required Qualifications:

7+ years of experience in subaward or grants management, with federal assistance funding.

In-depth knowledge of relevant federal regulations, including 2 CFR Part 200 and OMB circulars.

Proven track record of implementing administering and managing subawards, particularly high dollar value and complex subawards.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Strategic thinker with the ability to think logically and analytically, rapidly assess diverse information, and provide guidance based on award requirements.

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; advanced certification or degree preferred.

Willingness to travel up to 20%, primarily within the US, and ability to work from the Washington, DC area or be willing to come into the office quarterly for team collaboration.
