Position Overview: 

The Civic Leadership Manager will lead and oversee the planning, execution, and growth of MCN’s civic engagement programs, with a focus on empowering youth and women in Muslim communities. This position blends strategy and action; supervising program coordinators, developing strategic initiatives, managing community partnerships, and ensuring program effectiveness through data-driven evaluation. The Civic Leadership Manager will also collaborate with internal teams to align program efforts with MCN's mission and broader community needs. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

Program Oversight & Supervision 

  • Oversee the planning, delivery, and scaling of MCN’s youth and women’s civic engagement programs. 

  • Supervise and provide guidance to the Youth and Women’s Program Coordinators as well as interns, ensuring alignment with program goals, budgets, and timelines. 

  • Monitor program calendars, deadlines, and deliverables to ensure smooth day-to-day operations across both program areas. 

  • Troubleshoot challenges, provide strategic guidance, and maintain effective program execution. 

 

Strategy & Program Development 

  • Contribute to the strategic direction of MCN’s civic leadership initiatives, focusing on long-term growth and measurable impact. 

  • Collaborate with staff to identify new opportunities for innovation, engagement, and expansion within the youth and women’s programs. 

  • Ensure program goals are aligned with MCN’s broader mission and the evolving needs of Muslim communities. 

 

Community Engagement & Partnership Building 

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key community stakeholders, including schools, mosques, advocacy groups, and other community-based organizations. 

  • Represent MCN at civic engagement events, panel discussions, and coalition meetings, amplifying the organization’s work and vision. 

  • Support outreach efforts to recruit program participants, build awareness, and promote the impact of MCN’s programs. 

 

Program Monitoring & Evaluation 

  • Oversee program tracking and evaluation, including participant attendance, feedback, and annual impact metrics. 

  • Collaborate with coordinators to identify program strengths and areas for improvement, implementing strategies to enhance program quality. 

  • Regularly compile updates and reports for MCN and other key stakeholders on program performance.

 

Administrative & Operational Support 

  • Assist with budgeting and tracking, scheduling, and operational coordination across both program areas. 

  • Ensure compliance with MCN policies and best practices in safety, inclusivity, and community engagement. 

  • Work with administrative staff to support day-to-day operations and review timesheets of any part-time employees under their program supervision. 

  • Be able to assist in expense reporting to ensure accurate financial documentation and timely submissions.

 

Qualification Requirement: 

  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in nonprofit program management, community engagement, or a related field. 2 years' experience supervising staff and managing multiple projects is required. 

  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, Political Science, Social Science, Community Development or any other related field.
  • Skills: Proven leadership and organizational abilities, with strong written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Community Knowledge: A deep understanding of issues impacting Muslim communities, especially youth and women, is highly preferred. 

  • Collaboration: Ability to work independently and collaboratively, engaging multiple stakeholders across the organization and community. 

  • Flexibility: Willingness to attend occasional evening or weekend events as required. 

  • Location: Must be based in NYC and available for in-person work at least two days per week for hybrid conditions. 

 

Compensation & Benefits: 

  • Salary: $70,000 annually
  • Fully paid health, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage 

  • 401(k) plan with 2% employer matching contribution 

  • 15 vacation days per year (accrued) 

  • 15 sick days per calendar year
