POSITION: Landscape Architect
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Landscape Architect is responsible for driving the creative vision of landscape architecture projects from concept through design development, ensuring alignment with client goals, site context, and project narratives. This role collaborates closely with Project Directors, Project Managers, and Creative Directors to produce compelling visual presentations, planting designs, and storytelling materials. This role guides junior designers and interns in creative production and design refinement. The ideal candidate will have a strong design sensibility, deep knowledge of tropical and Florida flora, and a passion for visual storytelling. Licensure as a Landscape Architect is required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design Leadership & Creative Direction
- Lead conceptual design development for landscape architecture projects, including site planning, planting design, and spatial storytelling.
- Develop and refine design narratives and visual presentation for client meetings and internal reviews.
- Provide creative direction to Designers and Interns, ensuring design quality cohesion across deliverables.
- Collaborate with Creative Directors to maintain design integrity and innovation
Project Management & Supervision
- Manage landscape architectural projects through all phases of design and CA.
- Oversee production work and ensure deliverables meet municipal and client requirements.
- Respond to contractor, client, and project team inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Coordinate landscape consultants (e.g., Arborists, Tree surveyors) and ensure alignment with civil and municipal standards.
- Track all project time in Vantagepoint.
Coordination & Collaboration
- Create and manage project schedules and deliverables.
- Coordinate and oversee submission process to municipalities.
- Collaborate with Architectural Project Managers and internal teams to maintain project timelines and quality.
Bidding & Construction Administration
- Manage the bidding process and coordinate with bidders as necessary.
- Attend and prepare for landscape scope of pre-construction meetings, site visits, and weekly OAC meetings.
- Review pay applications, field reports, and track timelines for RFI responses.
Financial Operations
- Provide feedback to Project Directors for billing, including reviewing monthly invoices and deliverables.
- Track project time in Vantagepoint and review designer hour allocations.
- Coordinate review and approval of consultant invoices.
Marketing & Public Relations
- Support awards submissions and social media content showcasing design work
- Act as brand ambassador by promoting firm’s creative identity through public engagement and networking.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Licensed Landscape Architect with minimum 5 years experience in Landscape Architecture: combined experience in project management and design leadership.
- Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture or equivalent experience.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating conceptual design, planting design, and visual communication.
- Proficient in SketchUp, AutoCAD, LandFX, Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering software. Familiar with navigating REVIT models.
- Proficient in knowledge of local Florida flora, tropical plant species, and environmental considerations
- Excellent coordination and communication skills. Experienced in presenting to clients.
- Able to hand sketch to illustrate concepts and ideas in a concise manner
- Ability to research and confirm zoning requirements and integrate them into project designs.
- Experienced in City of Miami and Miami Beach permitting and design processes.
- Passion for ecological and climate-responsive design.
