OVERVIEW OF ROLE OR HOW THE ROLE MAKES AN IMPACT

 

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for managing and analyzing financial data to help the organization control expenses, improve efficiency, and make informed financial decisions. This includes establishing, controlling, and analyzing all product standard costs and monthly accounting for assembly costs, inventory, and freight. The Senior Financial Analyst will lead the operations forecast & budget process along with managing reporting and ad hoc analysis.  

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Cost Analysis, Control, & Reporting:

  • Accurate month end accounting, reconciliations, analysis and reporting for Sales to Net Margin including freight, duty and tariffs, and inventory/intercompany accounting. 
  • Identify areas of inefficiency and recommend initiatives across other functions

Variance Analysis:

  • Analyze actual trends, variances to budget and history, actual spending and costs, and prepare a variety of statistical reports.

 

Inventory Management:

  • Perform inventory, Excess & Obsolete (E&O)/Net Realization Value analysis and partner with commercial and operations teams to optimize performance.

 

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Quarterly Financial Forecast Preparation & Analysis: Report on gross margin changes driven by volume, pricing and cost against forecast, budget, and prior year.
  • Manage a cost control system that effectively and accurately measures costs and variances and allows for accurate projections of operating results including maintenance of duty, tariffs, and other import costs. 

 

ERP Systems Support:

  • Maintain and update data with our ERP – Microsoft Dynamics 365

 

Compliance & Auditing:

  • Ensure adherence to accounting standards and company policy
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Ability to travel 2x/year to our distribution center in California for physical inventory

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in finance, accounting, or related field
  • Three to eight years financial analysis, accounting, and reporting
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or equivalent ERP required
  • Experience with reporting tools like IBM Planning & Analytics (TM1) or Power BI
  • Experience with accounting duties including balance sheet reviews/reconciliations, preparation of journal entries and cost updates

Skills & Attributes:

  • Superior Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to model large data sets, analyze and clearly communicate conclusions
  • Understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems, assembly related cost flows, and standard costing processes
  • Solid interpersonal skills with proven ability to develop and maintain effective business partner relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and organize workload to meet organizational timelines in a fast paced, high growth environment
  • Ability to confidently present business analysis to leadership
