Position Summary
The Inventory Support team member is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels, ensuring proper organization of optical products, and supporting daily operational flow within the optical department. This role plays a critical part in minimizing loss, controlling costs, and ensuring timely availability of frames, lenses, and supplies to support patient care and sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate tracking of all optical inventory including frames, lenses, and lab supplies
- Receive, inspect, and log incoming shipments; verify accuracy against purchase orders
- Organize and restock inventory in designated areas following company standards
- Conduct routine inventory counts (daily/weekly/monthly cycle counts)
- Identify discrepancies, shortages, or overstock and report to management promptly
- Support frame board merchandising and ensure displays are clean, labeled, and fully stocked
- Assist with managing vendor relationships, including order follow-ups, lens ordering, and returns
- Process and place orders for lenses in alignment with prescriptions and patient needs
- Monitor usage trends and communicate reordering needs to prevent stockouts
- Maintain proper documentation for inventory movement, transfers, and adjustments
- Perform daily money reconciliation related to optical transactions and inventory-associated sales
- Support optical team with locating products and fulfilling patient orders as needed
- Cross-train and assist with dispensing duties, including frame selection support and basic adjustments as needed
- Ensure compliance with company policies and loss prevention procedures
Qualifications
- Previous experience in inventory, retail, or optical environment preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic computer skills (inventory systems, Excel, POS systems)
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical/retail environment
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Basic understanding of optical products (frames, lenses) is a plus
