Position Overview:
The Project Engineer is responsible for the successful implementation of technical projects across Premier Networx’s managed services client base. This role focuses on executing approved solution designs, delivering infrastructure deployments, cloud migrations, security enhancements, and client onboarding projects on time and within scope.
Unlike reactive support roles within the NOC, the Project Engineer works in a structured, project-based environment with defined scopes of work, timelines, and deliverables. This individual must combine strong technical expertise with organization, documentation discipline, and clear communication.
The Project Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring that new environments are built correctly, securely, and in alignment with company standards before transitioning to ongoing support.
Responsibilities:

Execute infrastructure and cloud projects including Microsoft 365 migrations, Azure deployments, firewall replacements, server upgrades, hardware refreshes, onboarding, and office relocations

Implement configurations based on approved technical designs and scopes of work
-
Configure and deploy Windows servers, workstations, networking equipment, firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and wireless systems
-
Deploy and configure Microsoft 365 components including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Intune, and security controls
-
Perform pre-project briefings with clients and communicate expectations clearly
-
Provide accurate time estimates and manage assigned project tasks accordingly
-
Maintain high documentation standards in ConnectWise Manage including diagrams, credentials, configuration notes, and handoff documentation
-
Ensure quality control testing and validation prior to project completion
-
Communicate project progress, risks, and scope changes to the Professional Services Manager
-
Coordinate clean project handoffs to NOC and Service Desk teams
-
Participate in post-project reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
-
Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Server technologies, including Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, Group Policy, and core identity/access services
-
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, routing, and switching
-
Experience with non-Cisco firewall technologies (SonicWall, Sophos, Fortinet, WatchGuard)

Microsoft 365 administration and migration experience
-
Azure administration and cloud deployment experience
-
Familiarity with virtualization platforms (Hyper-V and/or VMware)
-
Working knowledge of security fundamentals including MFA, endpoint protection, EDR/XDR, and backup solutions

Familiarity with SQL environments preferred

Strong project execution and organizational skills

Ability to follow structured scopes of work with precision

High attention to detail in documentation and implementation

Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Credentials and Experience

3–5 years of systems engineering or infrastructure experience

MSP experience strongly preferred

Preferred certifications: PMP, CAPM, ITIL Foundation, CompTIA (Net+, Sec+, A+), relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g. Azure fundamentals, M365, or role-based certifications), CCNA or equivalent networking credentials

Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred but not required
