Construction Supervisor with Telecom experience for outside plant fiber installation. This position is accountable for the successful construction execution of the project and supervising in-house and subcontractor crews. This position has authority to allocate resources and make construction decisions for the assigned area in accordance with Division Policies, Standards, Guides and Contractual commitments.
Responsibilities:
Accountable for site safety, quality, schedule, and cost on assigned projects. This position is responsible for assuring availability of resources with proper expertise and tools to support assigned construction project execution. Must be able to perform accurate material and scope of work details. Must be able to reconcile construction activities and manage scope change during construction. A strong understanding of construction practices and organizational skills is a must.
Accountable for managing the overall project execution performance including scope, cost, safety, quality, schedule, implementation, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities in the roll include:
- Serves as single point of contact between the Area Construction Manager and construction execution.
- Providing oversight of construction execution on all assigned construction projects
- Must be able to maintain and manage subcontractor relationships. Assuring that work is performed in accordance with project requirements.
- Will be required to develop detailed material take offs and scope of services lists from Engineered drawings.
- Must track and coordinate material delivery, schedule construction, and drive completion to meet schedule and budget expectations.
- Provide coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions, and performance reviews for construction employees. Ensure accurate and comprehensive performance evaluations are complete and on time. Evaluate subordinates’ strengths and weaknesses and develop programs to improve their performance.
- Verify all construction and splicing as-built information is accurate and documented on the project as-built maps.
- Reports project status and performance data as required to management.
- Identify and assess improvement opportunities, which will add value.
- Manage department expenditures to budgeted and forecast levels. Items that must be closely monitored are capital projects costs (contract labor and materials and in-house labor charged to capital projects), overtime, contract labor for repairs, and materials issued for repairs. Ensure all associated contractor/vendor invoices are verified and correctly coded.
- Manage all One Call Locate tickets and ensure they are responded to in a professional manner and accurately located within Texas State Law time requirements.
- Regularly meet with the warehouse supervisor to ensure that adequate levels of materials are ordered and stocked in inventory to meet the requirements of the department activities and build requirements and schedules. Ensure construction techs are keeping proper documents in their project folders for materials used on capital projects and system repairs.
- Provide coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions, and performance reviews for construction employees. Ensure accurate and comprehensive performance evaluations are complete and on time. Evaluate subordinates’ strengths and weaknesses and develop programs to improve their performance.
- Provide support to staff to be properly trained to meet certification levels for positions available. Motivate all personnel to perform their assigned duties with the highest degree of quality and efficiency at the same time promoting a safe work environment.
- Meet construction technicians and contractors at project sites, inspect work to ensure the quality of plant construction is met and or exceeded. Provide feedback to employees and contractors on ways to improve their product and encourage continual improvement.
- Prepare and distribute timely weekly and monthly reports.
Minimum Qualifications
3 years of relevant OSP/ISP telecommunication industry Construction Experience required. Supervisory experience is preferred.
Must be knowledgeable in quality construction practices.
A working understanding of contracting and accounting practices.
Demonstrated ability to keep crews on schedule.
Computer skills, including Microsoft Office
