About the Role 

 

This Software Developer Engineer in Test (SDET) is a technical role to assist with goTenna’s firmware, and hardware testing activities. Candidates should be able to work independently and hit the ground running, and have a demonstrated interest in technology and business, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent interpersonal skills. 

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

 

  • Ensure the quality and reliability of embedded firmware
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases on firmware embedded electronic devices
  • Independently create, implement, and execute low-level automated Firmware test scripts.
  • Document and track issues found during testing
  • Collaborate with the Development and Product Teams to identify, document, and mitigate firmware issues throughout the development lifecycle
  • Assist with manual and field testing as needed
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input on firmware requirements and design specifications

 

 Required Experience: 

 

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree with 3 to 5 years of experience. 
  • Proficient with Python
  • Proficient with Linux
  • Beginner to intermediate C programming experience
  • Experience collecting, filtering, and consolidating log data for troubleshooting and reports
  • Experience working with the hardware devices and/or controllers (RPi, Arduino, etc.)
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Strong Communication & Interpersonal skills 
  • Exhibits knowledge of software development lifecycles and Agile methodologies 
  • Keen attention to detail and high level of accuracy 
  • Self-starter, ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced, high-growth environment 

 

 Preferred Experience: 

 

  • Preference for working in the innovative, fast-paced environment of a startup company.
  • RF, Networking and/or Hardware experience
  • Experience with mobile chat apps (Android and iOS)
  • Proficiency with debugging techniques and tools
  • An affinity for people who like telling jokes, sharing funny links, do cool stuff outside work, and try to be creative about team building (e.g. survival skills training, murder mystery dinner theater, shuffleboard tournament, Mafia/Werewolf).
