About the Role

goTenna is seeking a passionate radio systems architect to guide technical hardware and software development efforts. Responsibilities include defining and architecting a radio system which meets product requirements based on FPGA or ASIC designs. Discovery and development responsibilities will range from initial technical feasibility and performance studies through to critical product design reviews and production launch. The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated individual with a proven track record. You will work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong critical thinking skills and collaboration in your approach to solving problems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Be the technical lead for radio product design to ensure that implementation fulfills product and compliance requirements 

  • Lead cross functional engineering team by driving the effort for an entire product life cycle, from Concept to Validation and Product Launch.  

  • Define deliverables, assign work packages, track progress, and remove roadblocks.

  • Perform feasibility and trade analyses in consideration of technical architecture options, compliance requirements, power, form factor, cost, development time, and more

  • Analyze system level feature requirements and functional specifications to define SW and HW implementation on radio unit level

  • Actively communicate design tradeoffs to internal stakeholders

  • Define and update technical specifications, interface documents, and systems architecture based on customer requirements and technical discovery

  • Support mapping and selection of hardware components which support product requirements

  • Develop requirements and plans for future radio features and functions along with how these may be implemented on a standardized platform

  • Develop and support test requirements for product characterization and verification.

  • Work with Project Management, Product Management, and Engineering Management to deliver products per our technical roadmap. 


Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field.

  • Expertise in developing and writing radio feature level requirements and specifications in which FPGA and SW engineers can develop from

  • Strong background in digital signal processing and developing radio products using FPGA and/or ASiC based RF SoC

  • Good understanding of the SoC (ASIC/FPGA) or Low level SW design flow and process.

  • Understanding of radio frequency spectrum and analog radio engineering principles

  • In-depth knowledge of wireless networking, with particular emphasis on mobile ad-hoc networking

  • Experience in successfully developing portable, battery-powered radio hardware and bringing it to market

  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Outstanding organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience with design control and change management techniques.

  • Ability to quickly grasp and adapt to new technologies and concepts

  • At least 10+ years experience in telecommunication industry in radio development

  • Knowledge of commercial and military performance standards such as FCC, CE, IEC, and MIL-STD-461.

ITAR: U.S. Citizen or Green Card Required

Placement at the appropriate job level (entry, senior, etc) will be determined by a combination of years of experience, demonstration of proficiency in this field, and other qualifications.
