About the Role 

goTenna seeks a passionate, mission-driven, quality-oriented Electrical Engineer to join its engineering team. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, testing, validation, and production release of RF electrical systems at goTenna. The Electrical Engineer provides electrical design and product development support as part of a cross functional development team that delivers high quality products to meet demanding customer requirements. This role is based locally in New Jersey/New York, but we are open to a flexible working schedule which allows work to be done at home and on-site. Travel to meet with customers or visit our contract manufacturer should also be expected. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Create electrical hardware designs and system integration for RF handheld radios, deployment kit systems, and test fixtures. 

  • Design and integrate RF circuits, analog to digital converters, power supplies, battery chargers, and bed of nails testing equipment. 

  • Participate in the full design life cycle through initial technical assessments, electrical concepts, schematic capture/simulation, board layout, design verification testing, product validation and technical specifications. 

  • Develop and support test requirements for product characterization and verification. 

  • Ensure the electrical designs and system level solutions will meet the intent of the requirements documents and marketing interfacing specifications. 

  • Create, contribute to, and execute engineering schedules and program budgets to meet customer and marketing requirements. 

  • Provide consulting and troubleshooting on technical problems that arise in product development, production, and fielded use. 

  • Perform engineering calculations, measurements, analysis for new development verification and sustaining engineering work design changes. 

  • Write technical specifications and support technical proposals for new development. 

    Required Experience: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field

  • 3+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering role

  • Working experience designing and maintaining microprocessor designs and hardware interfaces (SPI, I2C, USART, USB, and Bluetooth). 

  • Experience with board level testing fixtures (bed-of-nails and functional tests). 

  • Experience with EMI/EMC design principles and test methods. 

  • Working knowledge of commercial and military performance standards such as FCC, CE, IEC, Mil-Std-810, and Mil-Std-461. 

  • Understanding of ISO 9000 and other quality-related best practices and certifications. 

  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts and information to other functional departments within the organization. 

  • Ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams. 

  • Experience using test/lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and power supplies. 

  • Ability to work directly with electronic component vendors. 

  • Familiarity with DFM/DFA principles working with contract manufacturers

Preferred Experience: 

  • Knowledge of RF radio-communication, RF power and filter circuits, and antenna design.

  • Experience in electrical design and development of system level RF solutions.

  • Familiarity with Python 

  • Preference for working in the innovative, fast-paced environment of ap 

  • Exposure to agile software development practices.
