About the role: 

goTenna is seeking a Director of Program Management to build a Program Management Office (PMO) during a time of unprecedented adoption and growth for our company. You’ll be responsible for hiring and leading a team of program managers to drive strategic efforts across goTenna’s diverse lines of business, delivering world-class products and services that support our customers’ most important missions. The Director of Program Management will work collaboratively with cross-departmental leadership to ship high-quality deliverables to customers on schedule, partnering with the Hardware, Software, Sales, Product, and Customer Experience teams. This is an opportunity to assess our current lines of effort, determine the necessary resources to support the development work, build out processes to effectively manage multiple contracts, and improve overall accountability and efficiency based on customer needs and your own expertise. During the initial formative phase of the PMO, this role will include hands-on program management responsibilities before ultimately transitioning to primarily managing a team of program managers.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assess our current contracts and deliverables, then develop and implement a comprehensive plan with detailed processes and procedures to better manage those contracts and awards.

• Build out a Program Management Office (PMO) with a robust hiring plan to effectively support awarded and future work.

• Recruit, hire, develop, manage, and retain a team of high-achieving program management professionals.

• Work closely with customer stakeholders to develop strong relationships and drive success.

• Establish a system to appropriately measure, monitor, manage, and report the status of key milestones.

• Serve as the central point of communication across the company to keep management, engineering, and customers informed about the progress, risks, and mitigations for all programs.

• Lead cross-functional delivery teams to deliver impactful business outcomes and customer success.

• Perform hands-on program management work as needed, including analysis, design, process engineering, and change management.

• Assist with the development of new contract proposals, including coordination with engineering, finance, and strategy teams to define the scope, cost, schedule, and benefits of proposed work.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent work experience.

• Five (5)+ years of program management experience with end-to-end responsibility for government-funded contracts.

• At least 3 years of experience in upper level/leadership management 

• Demonstrated success working cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical teams.

• Experience managing multiple programs and/or projects simultaneously.

• Expertise in core program management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality, and risk management.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience supporting the development and delivery of both hardware and software products, as well as platform-based services.

• Experience coordinating efforts with distributed teams of forward deployed engineers and/or field service representatives supporting a worldwide customer base.

• Experience working in a technology environment.

ITAR: U.S. Citizen or Green Card Required

Placement at the appropriate job level (entry, senior, etc) will be determined by a combination of years of experience, demonstration of proficiency in this field, and other qualifications.
