Job Description: Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer (SDET)

About the Role 

 

This Software (QA) engineer is a technical role to assist with goTenna’s software, firmware, and hardware testing activities. Candidates should have a demonstrated interest in technology and business, strong problem-solving abilities, and excellent interpersonal skills. 

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

●      Independently create, implement, and execute automated and manual test plans for goTenna’s mobile and web apps 

●      Assist with making improvements to existing test plans 

●      Create and assist with execution of Python test scripts 

●      Reporting and documenting bugs found during testing 

●      Add or modify test cases to existing Python test automation scripts 

●      Assist with field testing 

 

Required Experience: 

●      Bachelors or Master’s degree with 3 to 5 years of experience. 

●      Proficient with at least one current programming language, such as Python and Javascript.

●      Familiarity with mobile chat apps (Android and iOS) 

●       Proficient with different browsers and other related web-based technologies 

●      Good analytical and problem-solving skills 

●      Strong Communication & Interpersonal skills 

●      Exhibits knowledge of software development lifecycles and Agile methodologies 

●      Keen attention to detail and high level of accuracy 

●      Self-starter, ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced, high-growth environment 

●      Ability to commute to NY-area state parks for field testing 

  

Preferred Experience: 

  • Preference for working in the innovative, fast-paced environment of ap company.

  •  An affinity for people who like telling jokes, sharing funny links, do cool stuff outside work, and try to be creative about team building (e.g. survival skills training, murder mystery dinner theater, shuffleboard tournament, Mafia/Werewolf). 

  • Familiarity with hardware such as Arduino and/or Raspberry Pi 

  •  Love for goTenna and our mission to build a distributed communication network from the ground-up!
