About the Role


goTenna is seeking a passionate SDR engineer to research, design and develop custom SDR for the baseband processing of wireless systems.  Responsibilities include architecting and coding FPGA designs or ASIC based designs in a hardware description language, producing design documents, performing timing analysis and floor planning, and validating and analyzing designs for errors and efficiency. The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated individual with a proven track record. You will work independently or as part of a team, demonstrate strong critical thinking skills and be collaborative in your approach to solving problems. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leading the FPGA or ASIC SDR development effort for an entire product life cycle, from Concept to Validation and Product Launch.

  • Architecting and coding SDR designs in a hardware description language

  • Generating design documents and defining SDR architectures as part of roadmap planning.

  • Communicating design tradeoffs to internal stakeholders

  • Involvement in adjacent functions including signal processing, manufacturing, procurement, and more.

  • Performing timing analysis and floor planning, and validating and analyzing designs for errors and efficiency

  • Working with Project Management, Product Management, and leaders of goTenna’s multi-disciplinary engineering team (Network Design/Architecture, Embedded Software/Firmware, Software, Quality Assurance).

  • Write technical specifications and support technical proposals for new development.

  • Develop and support test requirements for product characterization and verification.

  • Assist with prototypes and engineering builds (hands on capability required).




Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field.

  • 5+ years as a FPGA or SDR Engineer (ASIC SDR experience acceptable)

  • Experience with open source SDR platforms such as GNURadio

  • Experience in FPGA logic design, synthesis & simulation

  • Experience in HDL coding (VHDL, Verilog, and/or System Verilog)

  • Experience designing with Altera and/or Xilinx FPGAs, including simulation, synthesis and development tools.

  • Familiarity with EDA tools for schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium Designer preferred) a plus.

  • Experience with design control and change management techniques.

  • Experience in signal processing algorithm design and implementation.

  • Familiarity with digital communication, including modulation, coding and detection

  • Outstanding organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Knowledge of commercial and military performance standards such as FCC, CE, IEC, and MIL-STD-461.

  • Experience using RF test/lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers and spectrum analyzers.
