As a Tax Manager at High Rock Accounting, you will play a pivotal role in our accounting team, overseeing and managing all aspects of our clients' tax compliance and consulting needs. You will be responsible for ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in tax planning, preparation, and reporting processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and a dedication to delivering exceptional client service.

You will be responsible for:

Tax Planning and Strategy:
-
Develop and present tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities for clients.

Provide proactive tax advice and recommendations to clients to optimize their financial positions.

Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on clients.

Tax Compliance:
-
Oversee the preparation and review of various tax returns, including individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns.

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations.

Client Relationship Management:
-
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on tax-related matters.

Cultivate strong relationships with clients by understanding their needs and providing tailored tax solutions.

Ensure client inquiries and concerns are addressed promptly and professionally.

Team Leadership and Development:
-
Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality work and professional growth.

Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Foster a collaborative and positive work environment within the tax department.

Project Management:

Manage multiple tax projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are of the highest quality.

Allocate resources effectively and prioritize tasks based on client needs and project requirements.

Monitor project budgets and expenses to ensure profitability.

Ensure tax engagements are billed and paid timely.

Business Development

Network and build relationships and attract new clients
Requirements:
-
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA license or EA preferred.

5+ years of experience in public accounting with a focus on tax planning and compliance.

In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and team members.

Proven leadership abilities and experience managing a team.
-
Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office suite.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Entrepreneurial mindset
Bonus points if you:

Have a Master’s degree

Have worked with Xero, QuickBooks Online and Sage Intacct

Prospecting experience
