OPT Industries optindustries.com is a rapidly growing, Series A venture-backed MIT spinoff company that focuses on building the next generation of additive manufacturing technology. Working at the intersection of automation engineering, computational design and polymer science, we design and commercially manufacture highly customizable materials and products- everything from medical devices to luxury fashion.

 

Our mission is to transform products by taking an integrated approach from design to manufacturing. As we continue to expand our operation, we are looking for an experienced computational design technologist to develop OPT’s next-generation additive manufacturing platform. Candidates must be self-motivated, possess excellent communication skills, and excited to collaborate with a dynamic team.

The location for this position is Medford, MA, USA.

 

Opportunities

  • Own the development of a software/hardware system from an early development stage. 

  • Collaborate with a talented team with diverse backgrounds on interdisciplinary projects.

  • Conceptualization and design of high-performance metamaterials using OPT proprietary AM technology.


 

Responsibilities

  • Own the design, development, and deployment of design software for computational geometries. 

  • Research, test, and deploy new algorithms to tackle complex geometric problems and improve the 3D printing process.

  • Facilitate and mentor a team of computational designers through stages of a project and  assess user needs for design tools.

  • Communicate with clients to understand design requirements and formulate actionable design ideas.

  • Develop best practices and workflow to enable team excellence and incubate new technologies to evolve OPT’s manufacturing platform. 

  • Ensure software development complies with the requirements for manufacturing standards.

 


Requirements      (not all are strictly required, but will need most of these skills)

  • Master/Bachelor degree in architectural design, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, ar or relevant engineering discipline.

  • Expert in 3D modeling and parametric modeling.

  • Expert in programming language (C# and/or Python).

  • Proficiency in JavaScript, C, C++ is a plus.

  • Experience in computational fabrication.

  • Experience in FEM analysis.

  • Effective communication, comfortable working collaboratively on projects.
