About the Role:


Infrastructure Engineer/Architect is the key interface to Client teams and are responsible for developing convincing technical solutions. This requires them to work closely with clients for multiple partners - vendor teams to architect the solution.


Job role requires sound technical knowledge, proven business acumen, and differentiating client interfacing ability. Infra engineers would have to anticipate, create and define an innovative technical solution that matches customers' needs and our clients tactical and strategic requirements.


Configuration and Troubleshooting Responsible for planning, designing, integrating, and driving large-scale VMware Infrastructure on Cisco UCS Hardware, in accordance with Enterprise Infrastructure Engineering specifications and security guidelines.


Manage complex projects. Act as a final contact for any technical issue for the DISH engineering teams. Drive Critical/Major incidents and involve in RCA preparations. Responsible for planning and capacity management of system-compute infrastructure. Responsible for implementing DR & Chaos engineering solutions and performing periodic tests. Responsible for addressing performance and replication-related issues.


Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Architect, design, implementation, and integrations of VMWare on HP/CISCO UCS infrastructure

  • Assist in the build - Operate, of the VMware ESXi Server Infrastructure and its components hosted on Cisco UCS

  • Experience in setting up and managing the VCenter, VROPS/Aria solution, VMWare Tanzu.

  • VM capacity planning and trend analysis on resource usage

  • Troubleshooting and resolving VMware environment issues, monitoring & root cause analysis 

  • Install, configure & manage Automate - Infrastructure as a code using Ansible, Python & Terraform

  • Manage the storage allocation on the VMWare setup - SAN/NAS Storage (EMC, Pure) 

  • Partner with application teams to understand business needs and recommend solutions

  • Act as a reference and resource to Engineering Leadership and Operations 

  • Defining multiple virtual servers on a single host machine

  • Maintenance: Installing operating systems and service packs, security patches, and bug fixes

  • Keeping informed of developments in VMware technologies and products

  • Document all processes, system changes/fixes, issues, and VMware processes

  • Work in a fast-paced, dynamic, collaborative team environment

  • Support multiple unique projects occurring at the same time

  • Communicate resources and actions across multiple stakeholders and internal engineering teams


Must Have: 

  • VMware Architect with expertise in VMware products, tools, and server-side infrastructure with 10+ years of VMWare experience (with 6+ in a large enterprise)

  • Exposure to Active Directory, DNS, Proxy, DHCP & Group policy

  • Proficient in  Linux System administration, VMware technologies like vCenter, Update Manager, HA, DRS, Storage DRS, vMotion, svMotion, Template & Cloning, etc. 

  • Must know Configuring Cisco UCS servers (Chassis/Blades),including console

  • management, PXE server setup and VCE vBlock hardware

  • Experience in managing systems remotely using SSH, RDP, ILO, etc

  • Need experience with vRealize Automation / vRealize Orchestration

  • Ability to broker solutions among diverse and geographically disparate teams

  • Experience in at least one Configuration Mgmt/automation tool, Ansible, SALT, Terraform

  • Experience with ESXi Hardening 

  • Experience with Managing Multiple vCenters (VCSA experience required)

  • Familiarity with vSphere VM replication, and vROPs

  • Have a 4-year college degree in Computer Science / Information Technology, a master’s degree is preferred, or equivalent professional experience

  • VMWare Certified Professional (VCP) preferred

  • Extensive knowledge of the fundamentals of VMware ESX and related technologies

  • For architects additional exposure in design, managing Hybrid cloud infra, rearchitecting the DC environment to synergize with AWS cloud, and modernizing the NW landscape is required 

  • For Principal engineers managing/leading a team of 5 or more is preferred
