POSITION: Linux Administrator

STATUS: Contingent

TRAVEL: Up to 25%


DESCRIPTION: The candidate shall be responsible for administration, configuration, and support of IT infrastructure, to including operating systems, network components, security and storage management.  Tasks will include, but are not limited to:


DUTIES:


·         Configuring application software to perform optimally on Linux and Solaris platform.

·         Installing & uninstalling application software over a variety of OS software and configure per instructions/customers request.

·         Integrating application software with DBMS(s), risk mitigation/monitoring agents.

·         Creating and implementing system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of computing systems

·         Installing application software and connect to web servers, other application servers, database management software or storage devices as required.

·         Supporting application co-hosting in a clustered environment.

·         Reading/listening to written/verbal instructions to upgrade application programs.

·         Integrating application software to OS(s), DBMS(s), and business applications, monitoring agents, risk mitigation agents, backup/recovery agents, network devices and storage devices.

·         Patching and maintaining all appropriate Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGS), related to the application software.

·         Performing all levels of analysis (simple to complex) of OS(s), business applications, monitoring agents, risk mitigation agents, backup/recovery agents, network devices and storage devices.

·         Interpreting error codes generated by log and system files from DBMS(s), OS(s), business applications,

·         Recommending and implementing hardware, software, database or network solutions to resolve problems.

·         Analyzing LUN(s), file systems and storage zones to resolve issues.

·         Creating/Modifying/Updating/Closing Trouble Tickets and Work Orders via a Customer Services Solution such as Remedy.

·         Applying Cybersecurity policies as directed.

·         Assess the impacts and timeline for applying Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs), Operational Directives (OPDIRs), Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and other externally imposed guidance or requirements as required.

·         Ensure cybersecurity is fully integrated into all phases of the applications’ lifecycle to include but not limited to design, configuration, testing, upgrade, modification, fielding, operations, sustainment, and decommissioning of the system.

·         Continuously monitor, report, and respond to any changes to the applications that may impact the applications’ security posture, to include but not limited to vulnerabilities, violations, and incidents.

·         Successfully integrate and coordinate with the project manager and the local cyber security team on any system changes that may impact the site’s network and/or infrastructure.


Required Skills / Qualifications


·         Bachelor Degree in Computer Science; Engineering or a related technical discipline; or the equivalent combination of education; technical training; or work/military experience.

·         Red Hat Linux System Administrator Certification or Oracle Solaris System Administrator Certification required

·         Security Plus CE Certification required

·         Proficiency with Linux and Solaris operating system required

·         Experience in IT support field required with an emphasis on Linux/Solaris systems and server administration.

·         Strong troubleshooting skills in a Linux/Solaris environment - Event log analysis, performance tuning, backup and restore, and security monitoring.

·         Experience networking TCP/IP knowledge is required.

·         Experience security management required

·         Working knowledge of VMWare VSphere

·         General Microsoft Windows knowledge a plus.
