POSITION: Data Analytics Engineer

LOCATION: Stafford, VA

STATUS: Contingent on Contract Award

CLEARANCE: Active Secret Clearance Required

TRAVEL: Up to 25%

 

DESCRIPTION:

Develops the data extraction and preparation processes. Runs data quality audits and identifies issues with data collection. Implements improvements and fixes to data collection processes. Oversees SQL databases that can be large and complex. 

 

Data Engineers must also plan, design, and optimize for data throughput and query performance issues. This requires constantly updating the platform, network, storage technologies, bandwidth management, data bus implications, and design.

Additionally, you will play a key role in the selection of backend database technologies (SQL, NoSQL, HPC, etc.), their configuration and utilization, and the optimization of the full data pipeline infrastructure to support the actual content, volume, ETL, and periodicity of data to support the intended kinds of queries and analysis to match expected responsiveness.

 

As a Data Analytics Engineer, you will:

 

·         Support the government by providing a standard common business vocabulary, recommending strategic data requirements, outlining high-level integrated designs to meet these requirements, and aligning with enterprise strategy and related business architecture.

·         Support data architecture development includes the development of models, policies, rules, or standards that govern which data is collected and how it is stored, arranged, integrated, and used in data systems and programs.

·         Develop a repeatable process for data migration and transfer.

·         Develop and implement techniques or analytics applications to transform raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software.

·         Apply data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning to extract and analyze information from large structured and unstructured datasets.

·         Experience with SQL

·         Experience with developing ETL and data pipelines

·         Experience with a modern programming language, including Python or Java

·         Experience with working in a big data environment

·         Additional Qualifications:

·         6+ years of experience working in an agile development environment

·         Experience with Big Data ETL tools, including StreamSets and NiFi

·         Ability to quickly learn technical concepts and communicate with multiple functional groups

·         Ability to display a positive, can-do attitude to solve the challenges of tomorrow

·         Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills

 

Required Skills / Qualifications

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related degree

·         12+ years of related experience.

·         Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly in written and oral presentations

 

Required Security Clearance: Active Secret
