POSITION: Junior Financial Analyst (MHTV)

LOCATION: Stafford, VA

DESCRIPTION: 

The Junior Financial Analyst will be responsible for analyzing financial positions and recommending relevant policy actions by collecting, mining, monitoring, and studying data. The Junior Financial Analyst will assist with work plan reporting and reconciliation and processing financial transactions and tracking expenses. You may also be expected to provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce cost and improve the financial status of the organization.


As the Junior Financial Analyst, you will be: 

Updating project spend plans, phasing plans, and tracking the status of prior and current year funds.

Providing input to financial planning and budget drills and preparation of related documentation.

Preparing Funding Action Requests (FARs) and Procurement Request (PR) packages and funding documents.

Assisting with Program Objective Memorandum (POM) builds, POM Initiative Builder (PIB) entry, track POM initiatives, track POM Core packages, draft POM summary reports, and budget exhibit preparation.

Performing travel order management tasks (SABRS/DTS processing; reconciliation of vouchers and obligations; delinquent travel voucher follow-up).

Developing financial reports, documents, and briefings.

Tracking changes of Status of Funds (SOF) and Active File Data Element Reports.

Maintaining current baseline budget execution information; tracking planning and execution of supplemental funding in coordination with the program offices and preparing weekly supplemental execution reports in support of weekly Command reporting requirements. 

Developing weekly program funding obligation presentations.

Completing variance to goals and variance to plan explanations in NHS.

Providing financial support for the Planning, Programming, Budget, and Execution (PPBE) process and providing input for financial summary reports from available data sources, historical summaries of program funds, cost adjustments, funds reconciliation, appropriations close-out.

Validating expiring funds unliquidated obligations and dormant contracts.


Required Skills / Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree

3+ years of progressive related experience in public or private sector business/financial management, technical analysis, or logistic support analysis

Excellent writing and communication skills and strong verbal and interpersonal skills as daily interaction with government customers will be required

Ability to research, analyze, and evaluate information

Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Marine Corps system financial management

Experience with Standard Accounting and Budgeting Reporting Systems (SABRS)

Experience with SABRS Management Analysis Retrieval System (SMARTS)

NHS and PR Builder


Required Security Clearance: Obtain/Maintain Secret
