Position Description:

Cask is seeking a Physical Security Specialist to join its team of talented professionals, (job pre-requisite) applicant must have an active, successful SSBI or equivalent background investigation and (job requirement) applicant must be able to maintain a TS clearance. The Physical Security Specialist’s place of work will be onboard Naval Base Coronado (Naval Air Station North Island (NASNI)), Coronado CA.  The position is centered around ten major duties and responsibilities: operation of the Lenel security control system program (badging), assisting with the overall Physical Security Program, conducting Physical Security Assessments, the Lock and Key Control program, Information Security / Inspection Program, Operations Security (OPSEC) program, Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (ATFP) program support, security support for building maintenance, support for Command Events / Training, and daily reporting. Initial training is provided.

 

Major duties and responsibilities:

• Lenel Security Control System Program: The Lenel Security Control System records, tracks and generates the required documents for issuing identification (ID) badges. This task requires electronic input via computer, average of 100 badges / misc. transactions per day and 100-150 visit request actions per month. Interaction with Government personnel to interpret telephone and in-person personal data, including assisting visitors in marking building locations on maps and providing regarding visit procedure information is required.

• Physical Security Program: This task assists with providing physical security and antiterrorism support. Walking a weekly Physical Security Site Survey “punch list” is required.  This includes climbing ladders for ceiling access, the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, using a light to visually inspect dimly lit spaces above false ceilings.  Included also is the requirement to bend, crouch, kneel and lie prone on the floor, as well as removing floor plates to inspect voids under false flooring.  Job will average 50 surveys per month. This task provides oversight and maintenance of automated access control, intrusion detection and surveillance systems, integrating access control policies as well as performing employee check-in/out functions.

• Physical Security Assessment: In support of the annual Physical Security Survey to the Commanding Officer, candidate will be instrumental in managing the weekly Physical Security Assessment (PSA) program, conducting inspections of Building 1482 and outlying properties, and writing a weekly report.  These reports are an essential enclosure to the annual report to the Commanding Officer and ultimately to the Inspector General during an IG inspection.

 

• Lock and Key Control Program: This task performs data input through a PC based Locksmith Services database. This database tracks service requests and maintains a lock, key and safe inventory of approximately 40 records pertaining to open storage (Classification: up to and including TOP SECRET) rooms and security containers. Task includes issuance of keys, recording and forwarding requests for movement of security containers and passing requests to locksmith personnel, average of 10 requests per month.

• Information Security / Command Inspection Program: This task assists with documentation review, preparation for security inspections, site assist visits and inspections, classified shipping reviews, issuance of courier cards and letters, development of necessary training materials and maintenance of relevant databases. This task supports and assists government employees with Classified (up to and including TOP SECRET) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) during initial classification and controlling, as well as subsequent review of material to support decontrolling, downgrading and declassification of documentation and media.

• Support of the Operations Security (OPSEC) Program: This task supports the implementation of the OPSEC Program with its systematic approach to safeguard operations and activities from compromise, requiring integrating the security practices and principles of physical, information, personnel, industrial and information systems security.

• Anti-Terrorism Force Protection (ATFP) Program: This task involves supporting the ATFP program, helping increase awareness of terrorism and improving the ability to apply protective measures to reduce the vulnerability of individuals and property to terrorist acts and ensuring the ATFP program remains effective, proactive, and viable.

• Security Support for Building Maintenance: This task involves inspections of equipment before, during and after building maintenance and includes escorting uncleared maintenance personnel while uncleared personnel perform maintenance.

• Support for Command Events / Training: This task assists the Security Office with tracking training requirements as well as support for training events.

• Daily Reporting: This task documents daily activities for purposes of tracking weekly actions and workload management.
