Client Resource Specialist Job Description
SUMMARY: The position of the Client Resource Specialist is designed to act as a source of knowledge for Abide clients, sharing their education surrounding childbirth, birthing options, and information on local resources outside of the services Abide currently provides. The Client Resource Specialist will work closely with our Community Resource Manager to help clients who need referrals to other human services organizations throughout their pregnancy and postpartum care with Abide and obtain services through a warm hand-off to partner agencies.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide client support in the waiting room of Abide Easy Access Clinic, helping to facilitate conversation among clients (peer-to-peer support) and providing education (pregnancy/childbirth, nutrition, etc).
- Participate as lead facilitator for supportive pregnancy care prenatal program.
- Researches and remains up-to-date on visitor policies of local hospitals in the Dallas/Fort Worth
Metroplex, providing updates to Abide clients and staff, as needed.
- Communicates referral information to provider staff and may assist in facilitating and
coordinating referrals as needed by providing records, introductions, and anything else needed
to remove the barriers that women face in accessing care.
- In collaboration with Abide staff, shares resource information with staff and clients by updating
databases, the website, and through other communications channels as needed. Ensures that this information is complete, accurate, and current. Helps determine the best platforms for storage and communication of updated resource materials.
OTHER DUTIES:
● Takes responsibility for own administrative duties, including timely and appropriate documentation, timely and accurate daily reporting of activities via case log, and accurate reporting of time worked.
● Attends and participates in interdisciplinary meetings and staff meetings as requested.
● Participates in supervision/consultation as appropriate to the level of development/experience.
● Trained in front desk procedures and provide coverage as needed on a backup basis as requested
by supervisor.
● Adheres to Abide mission and values standards, policies, and procedures.
● Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
● Excellent interpersonal skills- collaboration, customer service, and advocacy skills.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced
environment.
● Excellent judgment, tact, and ability to work independently in a unique position and multi-task
essential.
● Strong computer skills; experience using databases and in data entry helpful.
● Familiarity with the historical and intersectional needs of Abide’s client base and trends in
maternal mortality and healthcare required.
● Previous work on women and family issues is highly valued
EDUCATION:
● Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related fields required
● Experience as a birth worker, doula, or community health worker
● MSW or LCSW is helpful but is not required
