About the Team

We're a small but high-performing team of engineers, building SaaS and mobile technologies for a rapidly growing organization, led by a founding team with proven success in building great tech companies.

We embrace Agile and DevOps practices to ensure the delivery of high-quality software transparently, predictably, rapidly, and with a high release velocity. We use infrastructure provisioning automation, configuration management, centralized logging, test automation, continuous integration, and continuous delivery, while ensuring appropriate security throughout our delivery processes. We have a well-defined product and technology roadmap in support of a very healthy sales pipeline. We have a highly efficient flat structure and ambitious growth plans.

Our stack is JavaScript-based (with Meteor and Node/Express microservices), but we're not picky about your experience, as long as you're open minded and willing to pick it up. Most importantly, we work in a collaborative environment of continuous learning - we expect you to challenge us as much as we challenge you!

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

·       Developing the latest features using JavaScript frameworks

·       Translating designs and wireframes into high-quality code

·       Learn and understand user interactions

·       Optimizing components for maximum performance across a vast array of use cases

·       Coordinating with various team members working on the solution

·       Collaborate with Product Management and other stakeholders within Engineering (Frontend, UX, etc.) to maintain a high bar for quality in a fast-paced, iterative environment.

·       Advocate for improvements to product quality, security, and performance.

·       Solve technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.

·       Craft code that meets our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale environment. Maintain and advocate for these standards through code review.

·       Recognize impediments to our efficiency as a team ("technical debt"), propose and implement solutions.

·       Represent Instant and its values in public communication around specific projects and community contributions.

·       Ship small features and improvements with minimal guidance and support from other team members. Collaborate with the team on larger projects.

·       Participate in Tier 2 or Tier 3 weekday and weekend and occasional night to assist troubleshooting product operations, security operations, and urgent engineering issues.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

·       Experience with full-stack software development using ES6 JavaScript and NodeJS with a minimum of 3 years’ experience

·       Familiarity with consuming REST APIs

·       Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

·       High level of initiative and self-motivation

·       Exceptional critical thinking, troubleshooting techniques and ability to handle multiple tasks

·       Must be a team player with the ability to work well with others

·       Experience with common front-end development tools such as React, Angular, Vue, Meteor or Blaze is a plus

·       Financial Services industry experience is a plus

·       Experience with NoSQL document stores such as MongoDB is a big plus

·       Experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL is a plus
