Keel Labs™ is looking for an individual to fill the role of a Process Engineer within our R&D team. The Process Engineer will support process understanding related to technology development for pilot scale fiber and yarn spinning at our Morrisville location. The major focus of this individual is to lead the development and scale up effort of a reliable process with desired product(s) specs via design of experiment execution, technology/knowledge transfer to the downstream development team(s), and interaction with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Process development related design of experiments in order to create a product that meets specs in a reliable and consistent manner

  • Interpret experiments from design and execution to analysis and reporting results

  • Work with the process development plan, providing insights and suggestions to improve the plan for next generation fiber

  • Ensure smooth process/knowledge transfer by providing instructions and training support to lab technicians & operators

  • Establish process understanding within the R&D team for any process improvement

  • Work independently or part of a team to execute an experimental design

  • Collaborate with engineering and development operations team to successfully design, execute, and analyze experiments

  • Develop technical plan for fiber/yarn development and basic project management with internal and external collaborators


Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • BS in Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Textile Engineering, or a similar field

  • 2-3 years of experience in process development.

  • Demonstrated experience using statistical analysis to inform process improvements.

  • Ability to provide support for technical workstreams by establishing process-property relationships.

  • Strategic problem solver with ability to interface with external development or manufacturing partners.

  • Ability to work in an individual or team setting.

  • Hands-on experience with operations and production lines.

  • Proficient in test plan creation, execution, reporting, and technology transfer.

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or higher is preferred.
