AlgiKnit is creating eco-conscious, renewable yarns for the circular economy. We’re developing durable yet rapidly degradable yarns from kelp, one of the most regenerative organisms on the planet. Our material is built for everyone: a functional and accessible resource without environmental harm. AlgiKnit is looking for a talented and motivated individual to work in a dynamic start-up environment assisting our lab team at our North Carolina office.  With a focus on lab practices, this individual will work on supporting our research team in and outside of the lab. Responsibilities:

• Execute fiber and polymeric material characterizations

• Support fiber production process

• Run test methods related to textile fiber mechanical performance

• Maintain detailed and accurate records

• Work independently and in a team setting to reach goals

Required Skills:

• Self-starter who can work independently with minimal direction

• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects

• Able to learn new processes quickly and put them into practice

• Able to problem solve independently and with a team

• Professional, detail-oriented, and excellent in time management

• A focus on and dedication to milestone completion

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite

Supplementary:

• Experience in standard fiber testing protocols

• Textile and fiber knowledge and background is a plus

• Aptitude for hands-on problem solving

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Material Science, or relevant discipline, OR,

• Associate's Degree in Chemistry, Material Science, or relevant discipline with practical experience
