LOCATION

Candidates should be based in the NY metro area as this position requires you to commute 2-3 times per week to the New York City office.


ABOUT THE ROLE

Comic Relief US seeks a proactive Grants Associate with experience in the nonprofit and/or philanthropic sector. This position is essential for delivering a strategic and effective grants program that enables CRUS to achieve its vision of a just world free from poverty. The Grants Associate is responsible for providing project management and administrative support to the Grant Programs Team and will play an active role across the Grants portfolio managing team workflows and timelines related to grantmaking, monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL), impact communications and storytelling. 


WHAT YOU WILL DO

Program/Project Management (25%)

  • Collaborate with the Grants Team to develop and implement grant objectives and activities related to the Grants annual work plan.

  • Manages Grants Team workflows, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Coordinates and attends Grants Team-related meetings and takes meeting notes.

  • Supports program development by conducting research on key issue areas and potential grantees.

  • Provides logistical and administrative support for various field building and grantee partner events.


Grants Management/Grant Liaisons (25%)

  • Serves as an administrator on the grants management system (Foundant). Assists with data entry and reporting, manages prospect lists, and ensures grantee partners' contact information is up to date. 

  • Leads cross-organizational work related to grants management.

  • Assists the Grants Manager in the review of grant applications and reports;; tracks grantee partner governance policies including DEI and Safeguarding, in compliance with CRUS guidelines.  

  • Assists the Grants Manager with the grant approval and payment process, including preparing grant agreements and payment requests. 

  • Coordinates and prepares agenda for quarterly Grant Liaisons/Grants Team meetings.

  • Assists the Grants Manager with maintaining the Grant Liaison Handbook.


Impact Communications and Internal Partnerships (15%)

  • Assists with the collection of Grantee Partners’ impact, communications and storytelling assets.

  • Assists with research and logistical support on the annual Grantee Convening, thought leadership events, filming and communications activities.  

  • Assists the Grants Programs and Communications Manager with grants impact-related inquiries.

  • Creates dynamic, high-quality presentations and reports to be used by the Grants Team to present information related to grants strategy, impact, and other related information.

  • Serves as a cross-departmental liaison and represents the Grants Team as needed. 


Learning and Evaluation Processes (10%)

  • Supports the Grants Team’s monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) practices, including reading and synthesizing grant report reviews submitted by Grant Liaisons or assisting Grants Liaisons in their report reviews. 

  • Analyzes DEI data provided by Grantees, and develops visuals of findings for presentations. Tracks the progress of grantee partners in relation to the CRUS DEI scoring rubric.

  • Assists the Grants Manager with creating impact reports using grantee partner-provided data and liaises across departments to coordinate timing for these reports. 


Grants Committee/Board Support (10%)

  • In partnership with the Grants Manager, prepares documents for all Grants Committee and Board meetings and assists with the creation of Google Slide presentations for Senior Leadership and the Grants Committee/Board.

  • Takes Grants Committee meeting minutes and monitors action items.


ABOUT YOU

  • Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors.

  • Education: Undergraduate degree (required), Master’s degree in a related field (preferred)

  • Demonstrated commitment to poverty alleviation and social justice through lived and/or work experience, educational background, and volunteer experience (essential).

  • Strong project management skills; highly organized, critical thinker, excellent financial analytical, and time management skills.

  • Self-motivated and task-oriented, with the ability to work independently and effectively maneuver between multiple tasks and responsibilities.

  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic and team-based environment

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience and comfort designing presentations and presenting internally and externally.

  • Technology: Proficiency with GSuite and Google slides. Proficiency in grants management system, Foundant (preferred) and Asana project management tool (preferred).

  • Passionate about and committed to social change and learning from and with nonprofit partners, in alignment with CRUS’ mission, vision and values.

  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate trust and positive relationships internally at different levels of the organization and externally with nonprofit partners.

  • Diligent and proactive team player who problem solves in a timely manner.

  • Agility working in a fast-paced environment, under pressure and meeting deadlines.

  • Great sense of ingenuity, curiosity, and humor.

THE PAY

CRUS offers competitive compensation. The salary range for this role is anticipated to be $58,500 - $60,000. The actual salary is dependent upon many factors, including but not limited to: abilities, skills, work experience, knowledge, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified.
