LOCATION

Candidates should be based in the NY metro area as this position requires you to commute 2-3 times per week to the New York City office.


ABOUT THE ROLE

The Manager, Grants Programs will work with the Grants  Team to deliver a strategic and effective Grant Program. The person in this role will support the programmatic day-to-day management of a selection of domestic and international grants across CRUS’ grantmaking, with a focus on the Domestic Health Equity portfolio.  CRUS’ Domestic Health Equity portfolio focuses on promoting health justice for historically underserved communities. This role will also support the Director, Grant Programs, and Vice President, Grants Team on overall grantmaking strategy. 


This position serves as a relationship manager for grantee partners, and as a key thought partner within the Grant Programs Team, and across teams, in support of Comic Relief US growth beyond the Red Nose Day campaign. 


The Manager, Grants Program is a member of the Grant Programs Team and reports to the Director of Grant Programs.


WHAT YOU WILL DO
Grantmaking, Strategy and Program Development (60%)

  • Lead the day-to-day programmatic management of the Domestic Health Equity portfolio of grants (e.g. reviewing reports, etc.) as well as a selection of grants across CRUS’ pillars.  

  • Support the expansion of the Comic Relief US grants portfolio, as needed, in line with CRUS’ Pillar Strategies, and under the supervision of the Director, Grants Programs. This includes identifying, researching and conducting outreach to potential grantee partners. Work with the Director, Grants Programs, to recommend organizations and/or programs for funding.

  • Support the Grants Team in implementing CRUS’ 5-year grantmaking strategy (2020 - 2024), including the integration of CRUS’ new pillar-specific strategies (safe, healthy, educated, empowered).

  • Participate in CRUS’ transition towards a grantmaking approach grounded in Trust-based philanthropy principles, ensuring efficiency and respect for grantees, while supporting CRUS’ communication needs.

  • Work with the Grants Team and entire organization to ensure that the safety and well-being of participants in CRUS-funded programs remains front and center across all aspects of our work.


Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) (15%)

  • Monitor the activities of assigned grants: reviewing and analyzing grantee reports; assessing grant program trends, outcomes and impact. Organize, and occasionally participate in, MEL site visits.

  • Monitor external, internal and programmatic risks to programs; proactively communicate risks to the Director, Grants Programs, and Grants Team. 

  • Research and share trends and learnings, with the Grants Team, Grant Liaisons and organization at large. 


Impact Communications (15%)

  • Support the development and planning of, and participate in internal and external Grants Team-related meetings, workshops and events.

  • Work with the Grant Programs Team and support other CRUS departments, to leverage grantee-provided assets for marketing and public engagement, ensuring the dignity and privacy of featured person(s) in CRUS appeal films, and across its digital and social platforms. Liaise with Grantee Partners, as needed. 

  • Produce or provide feedback on impact-related content; research and write issue briefs/talking points for senior leaders, as requested.


ABOUT YOU

  • Education: Undergraduate degree (required), Master’s degree in a related field (preferred)

  • Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the philanthropic sector funding non-profits and programs required, ideally, utilizing trust-based philanthropy principles.

  • Demonstrated commitment to poverty alleviation and social justice through lived and/or work experience, educational background, and volunteer experience (essential).

  • A combination of domestic and international grantmaking or work experience, along with experience addressing the needs of children, and/or advancing health rights and justice for historically underserved communities (preferred).

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience and comfort designing presentations and presenting internally and externally.

  • Technical: Excellent project management, critical thinking, organizational, programmatic, and financial analytical skills.

  • Technology: Proficiency with GSuite and Google slides. Proficiency in grants management system, Foundant (preferred) and Asana project management tool (preferred).

  • Passionate about and committed to social change and learning from and with nonprofit partners, in alignment with CRUS’ mission, vision and values.

  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate trust and positive relationships internally at different levels of the organization and externally with nonprofit partners.

  • Diligent and proactive team player who problem solves in a timely manner.

  • Agility working in a fast-paced environment, under pressure and meeting deadlines.

  • Great sense of ingenuity, curiosity, and humor.

THE PAY

CRUS offers competitive compensation. The salary range for this role is anticipated to be $75,000 - $85,000. The actual salary is dependent upon many factors, including but not limited to: abilities, skills, work experience, knowledge, business needs, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified.
