LOCATION

Candidates should be based in the NY metro area as this position requires you to commute 2-3 times per week to the New York City office.


WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Actively seek and secure general operating support and restricted gifts from individual donors, including but not limited to meeting a 3-year goal of raising $10M for the organization’s Innovation and Growth Fund. 

  • Proactively manage a portfolio and personally generate gifts in the five figure range and above.

  • Support the SVP of Development and CEO in managing portfolios of individual donor prospects by developing and executing strategies, preparing and supporting the solicitation of significant gifts in the six and seven figure range. 

  • Partner with SVP of Development and CEO in managing Board and Committee relationships as needed. 

  • Identify and cultivate new individual donor relationships to grow the prospect portfolio and bring new gifts into the pipeline.

  • Guided by the scope of donor interests, collaborate across the full organization to leverage the maximum philanthropic potential of prospects.

  • Lead the development of strategic plans, letters of inquiry, proposals, budgets, gift agreements, and reports.

  • Develop reports and updates to support the cultivation and stewardship processes. 

  • Manage the recognition and thank you process, including timely and accurate personalized letters recognizing donors' gifts, pledges, and pledge payments.

  • Design and execute both cultivation and recognition programs for individual donors, including but not limited to donor events, committee meetings, meet and greets, etc.

  • Actively participate in the process of reporting on progress to senior staff, who will in turn report to the board and executive office. This includes providing information and data for presentations, written overviews and narrative updates, and participating in the annual planning process.

  • Work with leadership and program staff to identify goals and strategies for individual donors on an annual basis.

  • Collaborate with the digital team to develop leadership giving levels and programs that encourage growth in annual giving and maximize gift amounts from the donor base. 

  • Manage 1 direct report.


ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Minimum five years of Development experience with a successful track record in securing grants and major gifts.

  • Experience conducting stewardship activities and events. 

  • Familiarity with fundraising software (Foundation Center, Blackbaud products) is encouraged but not required.

  • Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft office.
