ROLE OVERVIEW

The Senior Copywriter will be responsible for crafting the voice and tone of the Comic Relief US and Red Nose Day brand language and bringing them to life across various channels. Deliverables will include but are not limited to brand manifesto statements and guidelines, video content scripts for digital films, social media content ideation and writing, blogs, the websites, Red Nose Day’s membership program, email / SMS campaigns, various unique fundraising programs, talent engagement opportunities and more.  


The Senior Copywriter will work independently and in partnership with the Creative Director, in collaboration with various internal teams, and will work as a member of the content and marketing team. 


This role is based in New York City, NY. 


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with the marketing team to develop creative writing for cross-channel marketing and fundraising materials.

  • Organize and manage the editorial slate of contract copywriters to make sure the workload is distributed and the deliverables are consistent in tone and voice.

  • Participate in brainstorming sessions with creative and marketing teams to develop content and storytelling concepts.

  • Manage the case study bank for the organization in collaboration with the grants and marketing teams to mine and extrapolate the best stories for use on various channels.

  • Develop an actionable understanding of our brand, programs, and partnerships and be able to articulate the brand’s tone internally and to external grantees, corporate and commercial partners.

  • Write effective copy aligned with the brand strategy for a variety of audiences (corporate, education, mass consumer).

  • Produce thoughtful, clean, and concise content that adheres to the company’s style guidelines.

  • Proof and edit copy across marketing functions and media types for accuracy and brand tone from various key stakeholders in the organization.

  • Collaborate with internal team members, including designers, creative director, and marketing/digital/social / fundraising/grants teams.

  • Work with the fundraising team to develop materials whose goal is to generate funds. Including but limited to, online donation pages, solicitation emails, peer to peer-to-peer campaign pages.

  • Assist in the generation of Press releases, op-ed's, award submissions, and media articles. 


EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • 5 + years of experience in a copywriting or relevant role at a national brand, charity, or advertising agency.

  • B.A. in English, B.S. in Marketing, Journalism or relevant field.

  • Experience copywriting for the web, email, and social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and blogs).

  • Experience with and knowledge of best practices for website content.

  • Experience with and sensitivity in writing for non-profit fundraising and appeals, with a lens on articulating impact.

  • Comfortable with long-form content and report creation.

  • Able to extrapolate and distill short-form content from highly technical programmatic documents and data.  

  • Technical knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Google Suite, and project management software.
