Job Summary

The Sr. Engineer is a member of the Emerging Indications team, which is part of the broader Commercial and Clinical Strategy team that is responsible for the future indications Presidio MedicalTM is seeking across pain and more broadly all neuromodulation therapy areas. Responsibilities include progressing the evaluation of the application of ULFTM technologies in various preclinical experiments and applying those insights to advance the platform. This role also includes assisting clinical needs assessments and the output will lead to product concept development and proof-of-concept activity whether benchtop, preclinical, or clinical. Capturing learnings through intellectual property development and filing is an additional aspect of this role. Employee partners cross-functionally with the Pre-clinical, Science, Engineering, Regulatory, Program Management, and Clinical teams to progress the emerging indications projects to see the Presidio platform implemented in relevant pre-clinical and human use settings. This individual will also support key company deliverables as needed. Where applicable, employees work in conformance with Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• As a member of the Emerging Indication Development team, provides a hands-on approach and technical expertise with the Presidio Medical system for Emerging Indications activities.

• Design, execute, and report benchtop, pre-clinical, and/or clinical studies where appropriate.

• Develops, defines and executes project plans, schedules, budgets and deliverables.

• Interfaces with external physicians and scientists on technical matters to determine clinical needs and viability.

• Develops business plan and clinical case for viable needs.

• Manages brainstorming and concept development for neuromodulation devices for pre-clinical or clinical evaluation of screened needs.

• Develops and assists in the development of prototypes to evaluate the suitability and performance of design concepts.

• Manufactures small lots of devices for bench-top, animal, and clinical testing as appropriate.

• Comply with Presidio Medical’s Quality System requirements as well as any applicable regulatory requirements.

• Comply with all health and safety regulations, policies, and work practices, and Company SOPs.

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements

Experience:

• 5+ years of engineering / technical experience, experience in medical devices preferred.

• Ability to analyze and/or author scientific publications to distill key roadblocks for scientific, engineering, and clinical implementation.

• Demonstrated technical skills in the assessment of scientific results, data analysis, and reporting writing.

• Experience partnering with internal cross-functional and external partners (e.g., academic research centers) to ensure scientific projects are completed according to budget and timelines.

• Experience conducting pre-clinical experiments (as the primary operator or part of the scientific team), ideally with small and large animals.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Required:

• Knowledge of anatomy and/or biology and/or neuroscience.

• Knowledge of analytical tools and methods, including statistics, design of experiment (DOE), and the use of computer/software packages related to design, development, and manufacturing.

• Experience performing data analysis in Python, MATLAB or a similar program.

• Good communication skills, both written and oral, and must be computer literate.

• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Diligent, persistent, and inquisitive.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and a spirit of teamwork.

Education:

• B.S. or higher degree in Engineering or other relevant fields, or equivalent industry experience. Master’s or PhD preferred.

Position Details

• Position is in South San Francisco. Travel to remote sites may be necessary.

• Travel up to 25% of the time.
