As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and deliver production‑grade applications and data solutions supporting scientific workflows across Pharma and biotech. You will collaborate with scientists, product managers, and engineering teams to translate requirements into clean, scalable, maintainable software across the frontend, backend, or full stack.
This role suits engineers who enjoy complex technical challenges, working with users, and contributing to impactful capabilities in an evolving domain that includes AI/GenAI and automation.

Responsibilities:
Core Engineering & Delivery
- Design, implement, and maintain high‑quality software components—frontend, backend, or full‑stack.
- Build reliable data pipelines, APIs, services, and UI workflows that integrate with scientific systems.
- Ship production‑ready features with strong test coverage, reliability, and observability.
- Contribute to AI/GenAI‑enabled features, such as workflow automation or low/no‑code interfaces.
Collaboration & Customer Engagement
- Work with scientists, technical teams, and internal stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into engineering tasks.
- Support customer‑facing technical discussions that clarify expectations and guide solution delivery.
- Build familiarity with customer workflows, constraints, and data patterns.
Quality, Standards & Process
- Participate in code reviews, design reviews, and knowledge‑sharing sessions.
- Help evolve engineering standards, best practices, and development processes.
- Contribute to efficient CI/CD and cloud‑based deployment workflows.
Innovation & Prototyping
- Create prototypes and proof‑of‑concepts for new features, integrations, or AI‑enabled workflows.
- Evaluate new tools, frameworks, and approaches that could enhance productivity or product capabilities.
- Maintain a strong learning orientation and explore new technical areas as needed.
Team Contribution
- Support onboarding of new engineers through documentation, pairing, or mentoring.
- Collaborate across product, engineering, and customer‑focused teams.
- Take ownership of assigned work and communicate risks or blockers appropriately.

- Develop increasing ownership of components and deliver end‑to‑end solutions with appropriate autonomy.

Qualifications
Required
- 4+ years of experience building production software systems.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals; relevant technical degree preferred.
- Proficiency in backend, frontend, or full‑stack development:
- Backend: Python, Java, REST APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, DocumentDB/Mongo, Elasticsearch), distributed systems, ETL/ELT (Airflow), AWS services.
- Frontend: JavaScript/TypeScript, modern UI frameworks, component‑driven development, API integration.
- Full‑Stack: Ability to work across UI, API, and data layers.
- 4+ years of production Python experience (for backend or full‑stack roles).
- Demonstrated ability to deliver reliable, maintainable features independently.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Experience working with customers or cross‑functional teams.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred) and modern CI/CD workflows.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse team across many time zones.

Preferred
- Knowledge of scientific domains such as bioinformatics, cheminformatics, imaging, multi‑omics, assay development, or lab operations.
- Experience building data pipelines with scientific data formats or instrument integrations.
- Exposure to AI/GenAI development, including retrieval workflows, low/no‑code tools, prompt design, or agent‑based automation.
- Familiarity with lab automation, robotics, or R&D workflows.
- Experience with containerization or infrastructure‑as‑code.
