Overview
As a Scientific Solutions Consultant on ZONTAL’s Professional Services team, you will own the day-to-day technical delivery of customer solutions—from requirements discovery through implementation, testing, and handoff to Support. This is primarily a hands-on, customer-facing, individual contributor role focused on translating business needs into clear solution designs and executable delivery plans.
You’ll partner closely with customers and internal delivery partners—Program Managers, Sales, Data Engineers, Support Engineers, and Cloud Architects—to deliver project deliverables such as solution configurations, data pipelines/integrations, applications, parsers, and supporting documentation. As the use of AI tools grows both within ZONTAL and across our customer portfolio, you will also contribute to the development of new business processes and ways of working at the interfaces of Professional Services and all other business verticals. More broadly, you will work within the GTM function to provide customer feedback, partnering closely with Sales and Customer Success in the process.
At a minimum, you are already familiar with the various roles and responsibilities of IT within the life sciences industry. You should have experience delivering ETL solutions following common patterns, be comfortable discussing cloud and enterprise architecture concepts, and participating in computerized systems validation projects, all in the context of real customer environments.

Responsibilities
- Lead the technical implementation of multiple simultaneous customer projects in a rapidly growing portfolio of accounts and platform capabilities
- Discover and clarify functional/technical requirements with customers; keep scope, decisions, and timelines aligned
- Produce delivery and product documentation where appropriate, including Requirements, Design, and Configuration Specifications, as well as feature PRDs for customization projects
- Leverage cutting-edge AI tools – such as commercial LLMs and in-house, fine-tuned models – to accelerate technical delivery and streamline development processes
- Plan and drive execution for both routine configurations and larger efforts that require customizations (e.g., integrations, parsers, application-level enhancements)
- Communicate and document cloud and enterprise architecture in customer contexts, including common AWS service interactions and enterprise stack integration points
- Coordinate technical implementation in partnership with Program Managers across supporting verticals (Data Engineers, Support Engineers, Cloud Architects); track risks/issues, unblock decisions, and escalate appropriately
- Ensure System Integration Testing (SIT) is planned and executed against requirements, validate deliverables against acceptance criteria, and drive defect resolution; coordinate with customers on UAT and validation as needed
- Lead customer trainings and develop training curricula/materials (e.g., agendas, slide decks, exercises, and knowledge checks) to support adoption and sustainment
- Transition deliverables to Support/Operations with configuration and design documents, known issues, and handoff walkthroughs
- Identify and execute delivery process improvements (e.g., templates, checklists, tooling, and other artifacts)
- Contribute to practical standardization (e.g., reusable reference architectures, delivery playbooks, parser patterns) and share lessons learned to reduce rework

- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a computational or life sciences discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or related)
- Experience delivering customer-facing technical solutions in a regulated environment (e.g., GxP, 21 CFR Part 11) or other high-compliance contexts
- Demonstrated ability to turn ambiguous requirements into clear specifications and an actionable plan
- Experience working with data flows and a variety of data formats; planning and collaborating with engineers to develop pipelines and integrations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills—able to document decisions, explain tradeoffs, and keep stakeholders aligned
- Experience leading customer trainings and developing training curricula/materials for technical solutions
- Familiarity with enterprise technology stacks and how large enterprise typically runs and governs applications (e.g., IAM/SSO, networking, environments, change control, monitoring, data platforms)
- Experience designing and/or implementing data pipelining solutions using ETL or IPaaS technologies (e.g. Apache Airflow, AWS Glue, Boomi, MuleSoft)
- Working knowledge of AWS and cloud-native delivery concepts; able to discuss and document architectures involving common services (e.g., S3, ECS/EKS, EC2) and their operational/security implications
