The Role

As Principal Technical Product Manager, you will shape and execute the product vision for ZONTAL’s AI-enabled data platform, translating complex life sciences challenges into differentiated, market-leading solutions. You will operate at the intersection of platform architecture, AI innovation, and customer value, building products that materially improve how pharma organizations manage, analyze, and trust their scientific data.

You will be a visible product leader: driving strategy, influencing senior stakeholders, partnering closely with engineering and data science, and engaging directly with customers and partners to ensure ZONTAL’s roadmap delivers clear and measurable value.

What You’ll Do

Product Vision & Strategy

  • Own and evolve the technical and product vision for ZONTAL’s platform, with a strong focus on AI-readiness, data intelligence, scalability, and extensibility.
  • Define a clear, multi‑horizon roadmap that aligns ZONTAL’s platform capabilities with emerging pharma use cases, including lab automation, AI-driven insights and decisions, digital R&D, and compliant data reuse.
  • Identify and drive new product investments that differentiate ZONTAL in the market and create durable value for enterprise life sciences customers.

AI & Platform Innovation

  • Partner with engineering and data science leaders to design and deliver AI-enabled platform capabilities, including data pipelines, metadata intelligence, and integration patterns that accelerate ML adoption.
  • Ensure the platform supports secure, compliant, and performant AI workflows across research, clinical, and regulated data domains.
  • Champion modern, cloud-native architecture and DevOps practices that enable rapid experimentation while maintaining enterprise-grade reliability.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a trusted technical and product partner for key pharma customers, engaging directly to understand their workflows, challenges, and strategic priorities.
  • Translate customer needs into clearly articulated product requirements and outcomes, balancing innovation with regulatory and operational constraints.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Customer Success, Partners, and Marketing to communicate product value, influence go-to-market strategy, and support strategic deals.

Execution & Delivery

  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle, from discovery and prioritization to delivery and adoption.
  • Maintain a well-groomed product backlog and drive execution in an Agile environment, ensuring alignment across engineering, QA, and operations.
  • Balance feature development with proactive management of technical debt, performance, security, and compliance (FDA, GxP, ISO).

Leadership & Influence

  • Act as a senior and trusted product leader within ZONTAL, influencing platform direction and product standards across teams.
  • Mentor and coach product managers, fostering strong technical acumen, customer empathy, and outcome-driven thinking.

What You Bring

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field (advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in technical product management for complex software platforms, ideally within regulated or enterprise environments.
  • Proven success building and scaling platform products, including defining architecture-level requirements and long-term roadmaps.
  • Strong technical fluency in cloud-based architectures (AWS) and modern software development stacks (Python, Java, JavaScript).
  • Hands-on experience or strong working knowledge of AI/GenAI-enabled systems, APIs, data pipelines, and DevOps practices.
  • Deep understanding of life sciences regulatory requirements (FDA, GxP, ISO) and how they impact product design.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences—from engineers to executives to customers.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments using tools such as Jira and Confluence.

Preferred

  • Experience with life sciences data platforms, scientific informatics, or digital preservation technologies.
  • Familiarity with industry data standards and FAIR data principles.
  • Product management or Agile certifications (CSPO, Pragmatic, SAFe, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and drive alignment across distributed, global teams.
