Part-time Baker
Destiny Coast - La Jolla, California
La Jolla’s premier coastal dining destination is seeking a part-time baker to support the operational needs of the restaurant. This part-time position will support the growing culinary team and bring creativity and consistency to our house made pastries.
Position Overview
This position will be a supporting role in creating our fresh-baked morning offerings, including our famous warm Cinnamon Rolls and other breakfast pastries. This position requires passion for artisanal baking and the ability to work independently during early morning hours. The role encompasses all aspects of baking and pastry production, from preparation to final presentation.
Responsibilities:
Production and Quality Control
- Execute daily production of breakfast pastries, breads, and baked goods
- Create and maintain consistent quality in all pastry items
- Follow and execute the restaurant's original recipes for pastries, cakes, tarts, and bread.
- Measure and mix ingredients with precision to form dough or batter
- Monitor baking process, including temperatures and cooking times
- Ensure proper proofing, baking, and cooling of all products
- Handle plating and garnishing of baked goods to meet presentation standards
Inventory Management
- Monitor inventory levels of all pastry ingredients and supplies and communicate any concerns to full-time baker.
- Track usage and maintain accurate inventory records
- Ensure proper rotation and storage of ingredients
- Monitor ingredient freshness and quality
Kitchen Operations
- Maintain clean and organized work area throughout shift
- Follow all food safety and sanitation protocols
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and report maintenance needs
Schedule
- Early morning hours (3:00am – 7:00am typical)
- Must be available weekends
- Part-time position working Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.
