Destiny Coast, La Jolla's premier coastal dining destination, seeks an experienced Dining

 Lead to support our General Manager in daily operations. This key position helps ensure seamless service delivery and maintains our high standards of guest experience in our Mediterranean-meets-Southern California restaurant.

Position Overview

The FOH Lead serves as a vital support to the General Manager, assisting in daily operations and service excellence. This role requires someone who can effectively supervise staff, coordinate service execution, and maintain our commitment to flexibility and outstanding guest experience.

Essential Responsibilities

Operational Support

  • Assist GM in implementing standard operating procedures for front-of-house operations
  • Support pre-meal huddles to communicate daily goals and updates
  • Oversee dining room setup and maintenance during service periods
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness standards throughout service
  • Support inventory management and supply maintenance
  • Assist in end-of-shift reconciliation and documentation
  • Help maintain compliance with health and safety regulations

Team Supervision

  • Support GM in staff training and development
  • Supervise front-of-house staff including cashiers, baristas, servers, runners/bussers, and bartenders during service
  • Provide real-time guidance and feedback to service staff
  • Help coordinate staff schedules and daily assignments
  • Monitor service standards and provide correction when needed
  • Assist in fostering a positive work environment
  • Support new employee training initiatives

Guest Service

  • Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality guest experiences
  • Handle immediate guest concerns and escalate to GM when appropriate
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of menu items, daily specials, and wine list
  • Coordinate special occasions and custom requests
  • Support Elite Member experiences and benefits
  • Assist in special events and promotional activities
  • Help build and maintain positive relationships with regular guests

Required Qualifications

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a support role
  • Strong knowledge of food and beverage service standards
  • Experience with high-volume, upscale dining operations
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Food Handler's certification
  • Basic computer and POS system proficiency
  • Cash handling experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience managing people/staff in hospitality setting
  • Experience in coastal or resort properties
  • Knowledge of Mediterranean cuisine and wines
  • Background in membership or loyalty programs
  • Multi-language abilities
  • Previous experience with OpenTable or similar systems

Schedule and Availability

  • Position requiring flexible scheduling
  • Weekend and holiday availability required (excluding Christmas Day and Thanksgiving Day)
  • Ability to work morning and evening shifts
  • Available for special events and member functions

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Capable of lifting up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to navigate stairs and different floor levels
  • Manual dexterity for computer and POS system use
  • Visual/auditory ability to respond to critical situations
  • Physical stamina for high-volume service periods
