Job Title: Supervisor, Tax Audit
Summary: Supervisor, Tax Audit lead the day-to-day operations of the firm’s Tax Audit Resolution (TAR) services and support the quality and training functions of the firm.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead, Manage, and be Accountable for operations of the firm’s Tax Audit Resolution (TAR) services (i.e tax controversy/audit defense), including managing a team of 2-4 US-based part-time law clerks.
· Manage the portfolio of Tax Audit projects, including the direct regular updates and communication with the client and IRS/taxing authority, preparation and delivery of all audit correspondences, and supervision and execution of the preparation of all Information Document Requests (IDRs), Protest Letters, and other tax audit substantive documents
· Support and be a contributory to the firm’s practice growth initiative for its TAR services, including additional client acquisition of paid-for TAR services.
· Support the Quality and training functions, including being a contributor to the firm’s weekly trainings, workshops, etc, continual improvements of processes and standards, and continuous efforts for institutional knowledge growth.
· Lead weekly (and other regularly) scheduled planning, production, and training meetings for the TAR team, and be an active participant in other weekly and regular meetings for operations.
· Work remotely from home office
· Approx. 4-8 min required in-person internal meetings per year
Skills & Qualifications
· Experience with managing tax audit/tax controversy/audit defense with the IRS Small Business/Self Employment (SB/SE) and/or Large Business & Internal (LB&I) Divisions required
· Minimum Associates Degree required
· IRS Enrolled Agent (or CPA/Bar license) required
· Some travel required (client site visits: no more than 5-10% of work time traveling)
· Time management and attention to detail
· Ability to prioritize and multi-task on a variety of tasks and projects
· Clear written and verbal communication skills, strong documentation skills
· Strong internal communication and external client interaction skills
· Self-starter, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude and a good sense of humor
· Must have reliable transportation and secure work location
