Job Summary:

The Director of Operations will oversee the day-to-day activities of the tax and engineering technical services teams, including those implementing R&D Tax Credit, Employee Retention Credit, 179D Deduction, 45L Tax Credit, Cost Segregation, and Tax Audit Resolution services, ensuring that the organization are managed and performing efficiently and effectively.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

·         Participates in the hiring and training of departmental managers.

·         Organizes and oversees the work and schedules of departmental managers.

·         Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. 

·         Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

·         Supervise 3-4 Middle Managers, who in turn have up to 30 direct reports

Duties/Responsibilities:

·         Establishes quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the company’s efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identifies opportunities for improvement.

·         Continually design and improve the basic architecture and parameters of “BRAYN Belt Training System for Technical Excellence” to ensure firm-wide consistency across all service lines and functions.

§  White (beginner) Belt Level Content for All – Including R&D, Engineering, Tax Audit Resolution, etc.

·         Client and Project Management

·         Conduct Weekly One-on-Ones with Direct Reports

·         Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business procedures.

·         Implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.   

·         Ensures work environments are adequate and safe. 

·         Plans, directs, controls, implements, evaluates, monitors, and forecasts budgets and cost of sales in each division to achieve financial objectives. 

·         Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to managers; for major changes, meets with entire operations staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale.

·         Improves customer service and satisfaction through policy and procedural changes.

·         Leads coordination and integration of efforts among operations, engineering, technology, and customer service divisions to produce smoother workflow and more cost-effective business processes.

·         Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community.

·         Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Preferred Experience:

·         Extensive and diversified background with at least 10 years of related experience.

·         Brown Belt-Level (3-5 yrs) competency in at least one of R&D, 179D, and/or 45L and demonstrates the analytic ability to achieve Yellow (beginner) Belt level competency in the others.

·         PMP, PMP Eligible, or demonstrates comparable Project Management experience and expertise.

o   Licensed Attorney, CPA, or Enrolled Agent and eligible to practice before the IRS

Physical Requirements:

·         Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

·         Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
