River’s Edge Pharmacy has become a leader in infusion therapy services. Administered by specially trained infusion nurses, these services are provided at standalone locations, physicians’ offices. THE RIVER’S EDGE STORY

River’s Edge Pharmacy started in Rancho Mirage, CA in 2008 to address the need for compassionate care by specialty pharmacies. In 2013, the Company moved to a larger facility in Palm Desert, CA.

The successful execution of River’s Edge Pharmacy’s growth strategy led to the opening of a total of nine infusion locations and two pharmacies in California.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Under close supervision, supports pharmacological services by ordering, purchasing and performing other critical inventory tasks to ensure the correct amount of items are in stock. Assist with Pharmacy technician duties and supporting the Pharmacist as needed.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans optimal ordering patterns based on individual vendor attributes. Coordinates vendors’ ordering and attributes for optimal pricing strategies.
  • Places orders to optimize pharmacy supply, in-stock and service levels
  • Orders considering individual vendor/item/DC attributes including (for example: High / Low, Basic Out-of-Stocks, back orders, etc.).
  • Creates purchase orders in CareTend and maintains efficiency when receiving/replenishing.
  • Coordinates with pharmacy staff to ensure fulfillment of all daily orders.
  • Establishes priority and sequence of Purchase Order approvals to ensure key suppliers receive POs in a timely fashion.
  • Integrates Inventory metrics exception alerts into daily & weekly order creations and report it to the supervisor.
  • Reviews and adjusts quantities on the fast-moving items.
  • Coordinates with the vendor analyst on discussing and resolving issues including but not limited to, out of stock, Inventory: Cogs, Holiday closedown schedule, new items, shortages and allocations.
  • Ensures the maintenance of the perpetual inventory items on CareTend by making the appropriate necessary adjustments upon supervisor’s approval.
  • Assists in pulling expired and recalled medications and returning them as directed.
  • Assists with oversight pump inventory and receiving the rental equipment and follows protocol for the cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assists with the weekly pump audit and collects the missing pumps when applicable.
  • Assists with performing the monthly/quarterly Physical Inventory Counts.
  • Reviews Cycle (emergency order) and special orders issued to fulfill specific allocated quantities supplied from the vendor as product is available.
  • Coordinates inventory and remediation of excess pharmacy inventory. Resolves inventory issues alerted by the process monitors with specific, immediate remediation plans (for example: Top 10 Insufficient Items).
  • Receives and handles hazardous materials (medications) appropriately following protocol.
  • Performs general Pharmacy Technician duties which include but are not limited to compound mixing, dispensing and intake to cover when short staffed. Travel to Palm Desert location to cover vacation or absences as needed may be required
  • Maintains work area in a clean, neat and orderly fashion.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education and/or Experience – High School Diploma and one (1) year experience in inventory management.
  • Language Skills – Excellent written and verbal communication required. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, customers, and the general public.
  • Mathematical Skills – Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.
  • Reasoning Ability – Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Required Technical / Other Skills / Licenses – Working knowledge of computers and most commonly used business software, to include: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Meets all state requirements for a Pharmacy Technician, which may be registration, licensure or certification. MUST POSSESS A VALID CA PHARMACY TECHNICIAN LICENSE

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is seldom exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee will be in a self contained clean room and pharmacy area. They will be provided training and personal protective equipment will be provided. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.

COMPENSATION

Pay range (DOE): $21 - $26 an hour

Actual base pay could vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, geographic location where work will be performed, and the applicant's skill set. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual cash bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
