Position Summary: The Transportation Associate for Urban Recipe is responsible for driving trucks to collect merchandise from the warehouse and safely transport materials to programming locations. Their duties include loading orders onto trucks and shipping containers, picking up goods and materials, verifying loads for accuracy, and delivering them as instructed. The Transportation Associate will also be responsible for the support of the Manager of Operations in the warehouse with needs and tasks as needed for all of Urban Recipe’s programs and partnerships.
Responsibilities:
Drive and operate trucks to collect merchandise from the warehouse and safely transport materials to programming locations.
Pick up goods and materials, verify loads for accuracy, and deliver them as instructed.
Load and unload cargo from deliveries.
Responsible for basic vehicle maintenance; comply with all safe work practices, policies, and processes at all times
Receiving and documenting merchandise for delivery or return
Pre-inspect trucks and identify any missing, lost, or damaged materials and immediately notify the operations team and direct supervisor,
Ensuring that all the merchandise is safely and securely packed and labeled for shipping
Assisting with storing all merchandise with appropriate care
Assisting with adding labels to ensure products are transported to the right destination
Assist with ensuring all distribution trackers, logs, and administrative paperwork are completed weekly
In collaboration with the warehouse team, ensure the appropriate quality, quantity, and variety of inventory is available at all times
Serves as a representative of Urban Recipe at vendor locations and distributions
Identify innovative strategies for continually improving Urban Recipe’s impact, effectiveness, and overall quality of transportation
Support warehouse team with needs and tasks as needed
Wear and utilize all required PPE and safety equipment/tools
Carry out administrative warehouse tasks as required to facilitate an efficient working environment
Performs other duties as assigned
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Forklift license preferred
At least 2 years of experience in driving box trucks and or CDL driving
Qualifications:
Experience with a community-based or nonprofit organization is strongly preferred.
Experience with working in a warehouse and delivery driving
Experience in driving box trucks and or CDL driving is strongly preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The employee will be required to lift and transport heavy items to waist level, up to 40lbs, daily
Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and walking are required
Required to wear and utilize all required PPE and safety equipment/tools
